Installed Radar/Laser Dectectors

The V1 and the 9500 have always been the two leading devices on the market. I felt the GPS feature from escort took the product over the top and placed it in the lead. A quite cabin with the volume up is priceless.
Anyhow, $380 is $70 off the list, and you just don't see that very often for this unit.

Don't know about the police up north buy in most if not all states in the US the state police have "radar detector , detectors in their car. Some detectors have a stealth feature which switches of the detector when they see a police radar signature but these are also detected. Just sayin

Moot point unless detectors are illegal, which is not universal, even in the US. The whole attitude to these things varies so much - here in the UK, all types are legal (jammers are not); across the water in France, even the GPS-based camera warning systems are illegal. Cops can even confiscate them if they are unused and sitting in the glovebox, unless you can prove there are no French locations stored.

Somewhat different thinking over here. Maybe there is a LEO on this site who will chime in but when they get a hit of a detector present they use laser which they can target you without you defending it. They also use call ahead tactics where down the road they get you. It's all about revenue so depending on how they feel they can always get you when they want. Most troopers in NY give away 6-7 mph over the limit . When the new recruits hit the road they give you nothing until they prove themselves to there Sargent's. I think detectors are illegal in Virginia and Hawaii.

I have a K40 built in front and rear radar detector plus a front laser deflector. I have not been stopped once. There are few cops on the streets, highways, or interstates because of budget cuts. There are however, a lot of radar actuated "your speed is" signs. The result of that for me is - speakers off, lights only. I have lights mounted in the pod directly in front of me. I guess you could call that hidden.

The jury is still out on how good it actually is, and I'm trying to troubleshoot some false laser alerts I'm getting at certain engine rpms.
It does not have a learning feature, which just means it goes off briefly every time I drive past a grocery store.
Maybe I should consider getting the 9500 just to see how good the Cobra actually is. If it catches everything the 9500 does, great. If it doesn't I'd still have the 9500!

I have the cobra S120R mounted in my front grill. It has GPS based warnings and a "community" connection through the iPhone's gps. My phone automatically links to it when I turn the car on.

I had to get something as well after getting tagged by LIDAr just 3 weeks after getting the DBS. I had my XKR's for what - over 10 years and nary a ticket. I get the DBS and then bam.
I put a Bel STiR plus 3 front/2 rear AL Priority laser shifters on the DBS. I was planning on doing it to the XKR before I traded it.
The AL Priority is teh only system that can shift the Dragon Eye LIDAR. The others will probably catch up at some point, but if you live in the Atlanta, GA area or any area that has started using DragonEye, there are no other laser shifters that can protect you.
Since getting my "stuff" I have been saved twice from LIDAR. The second time I drove by the cop and watched him follow me/turn his head while I drove by. He still had his LIDAR gun up and I guess he was determining why he could not lock on to me...

I found this concealed install with control panel in the ashtray. I like. Interesting that Escort advertises it's product as completely undetectable by police. True, or not?

Just a heads up!
I see Costco is putting the 9500ix on sale! (till 6/22/2014)
$380 is a great price for a top of the line detector!
Peace!

+1 Here. I own 3 Valentine V1's...they are really that good. BUT with the recent addition of the WAZE app on my iPhone I find I am even further ahead in the speed game. I commute 120 miles each way (Sacramento to Bay Area) once or twice a week on I-80 in CA. Lots of LEO action each and every day. Not a single ticket since running the V1 + WAZE combo!

FYI on heated windshield
Just an up date here if anyone wants to know. On my recent trip I just decided to put my few year old Cobra radar detector in my car. As I mentioned before I have the heated windshield but wanted to see if the thing would work. Well as an FYI it seemed to work without any problems. I mounted it low on the windshield in the center just above the wiper blades. It is only supposed to pick up 9 different signals and it work for both traffic warning devices as well as normal radar and 1 laser hit. Now we were on interstate highways so we were traveling with the traffic at around 75mph on a 65 mph road so if the LEO's wanted us they would need to take down a caravan of cars and trucks. Just a FYI
