Default Insurance costs

As I continue to look for a car I was wondering what the est. cost of insurance was for a 2012 XKR. I'm in NY north of the city so I'm looking for some type of guesstimate. Also are some getting restricted insurance where you only do 2000-3000 miles a year or do you get normal 12 month policies. Does the fact that the car is aluminum make much of a difference. Just wondering , thanks.

Wouldn't a quote from a insurance company be best?

I'm just looking for an estimate at this point. So far most companies don't want to give an estimate on the web. I'm not looking to sit with my agent at this time. As I mentioned I'm just looking for a ball park. I had a separate policy for my old Ferrari and that was $300 a year for assessed value of $35K with only 2500 miles a year travel. I assume the XKR will run around $1K as a normal driver . This would be our 4th car with only 2 drivers.

Best deal on car insurance is to bundle the car with homeowners or any other vehicles that you own. Age, driving record, and mileage driven, is also a factor.

The rates will vary for so many people as there are these factors above.

For myself, due to bundling, age, mileage and driving record, my insurance cost for a 2009 Jaguar XKR is right $475.00 per year. Which I consider a great price from Safeco Insurance.

Shop around, but as the other poster states, call your insurance agent.

I tried to get collector car insurance a while back and they said a Jag this new didn't qualify.....I might try again one day soon. It's a lot cheaper but does have limitations.
Anybody have luck with Grundy or Hagerty?

Hagerty:

Newer Vehicles: limited production, exotic & special interest

Low production numbers, sports cars, and special edition vehicles are characteristics of 1990 and newer vehicles we consider a fit for our program.

The following guidelines apply for newer vehicles:

Vehicle must be in excellent condition
Minimum value
1990’s vehicles - $10,000
2000 and newer - $15,000
Your regular-use vehicle must be
No more than ten years old when insuring a 1990’s vehicle
No more than five years old when insuring a 2000 and newer vehicle

Expect it to be the on the high end of what you think it should be. Jag's are expensive to insure and that's life. A good collision and "that's all she wrote". The car will be totaled.

Wow, sounds like you have fairly unexpensive insurace policies in the States..

Ie. I am 41 y old, elite record, no young drivers ect. Own garage, but I live in the city center.

First quote 3500 usd
Second quote 2500 Usd

Last quote through private contacts hush hush ect.. 1000 Usd.. However usually always pay around 2000 to 2500 Usd for full insurrance one any of my cars.. Plus that with a crayz road tax of around 1000 Usd a year...
