I thought I read somewhere here on the forum that the Integrated Control Panels were interchangeable and plug and play. I did a quick check of the wiring from a 2010 and it was the same as my 07. I thought I'd change it out as part of adding Cambo's CarPlay - nothing wrong with the old one. I just thought the newer one looked better.
At any rate, does anyone know this to be true or false whether they are interchangeable plug and play? My swap failed - only the air bag light and flashers worked.
Nothing is available in SDD to upgrade a new or existing ICP
CCF only displays these options:
Could it be a case of renaming a VBF file? I could also just swap out the faceplate - A bit of a pain but certainly doable. My preference would be to ID the VBF file. Anyone have experience?
Thanks jahummer. I thought it might have been you. It appears the PCB is dead on the 2010 anyway so I'll swap them out. I'll see if the seller will give me a price break as I don't want to bother with a return and got it on the cheap.
Recently purchased a 2010/11 XF IP for bench testing (?) and the the preferred blue graphic lines.
I hope to use it to further testing for Blind Spot Monitor retro-fit to the XK.
Programming it for XK application should be possible using SDD for existing or new. We'll find out shortly.
Configure Existing through Diagnostics and Extra Functions Configure new - through Service Functions
Ah rats' I was using IDS and didn't pull up service functions via SDD. I'll give that a go next time. I still think it's a dead PCB but will find out soon. Today is back to suspension.
@Bill400 , virtually no options appear in SDD Service Functions for me which is where you saw your option on the ICP. Here was me diagnostic extras - nothing there either:
125.2 but that shouldn't matter. The option should be there. My version has additional functionality so I don't want to lose it and add another version. Like I said, No big deal. I can swap the PCB.
@Bill400 , you are correct, I just looked in my flash file folder and there is only one file for the integrated control panel and I'm guessing because of my version as you suggested. Is there any way you could send me the flash folder file 9W83-18C858-BA? I thought I downloaded a higher version of SDD from Graham but I can't find it.
I'll be happy to send whatever I have but hands full through Turkey Day.
Also, do you want me to post it on JF or send to a personal email?
If you want it posted elsewhere, please provide instructions.
Bill
PS: I'm studying JLR microprocessors, CCF, CAN, MOST, etc trying for a deeper understanding. One thing that appears to limit options is the cross checking for VIN and parts that the editor does. Also, it checks the file check sum before loading which prevents back-door editing then loading with the editor.
Just saying ...
