Default Intercooler Heat exchanger?

Been trying to study up on our superchargers. Never really knew a lot about intercoolers and such. Thinking it's a good idea to upgrade the intercooler pump though. Am I right in saying that we don't have a dedicated heat exchanger for the intercooler? Does the radiator do the cooling for the engine and the intercooler? Seems like many other cars came stock with a separate one. Seems like the intercooler flow is connected to the engine only for the purpose of fluid shortage. If this is correct what is cooling the intercooler fluid and wouldn't this be a really good reason to get the killer chiller?

Depending on the year may depend on the setup. For what i remember, there has always been separate heat exchangers(radiators) for engine and supercharging circuits.

Any reasonable upgrade seems to be a good idea, but I would start with asking a question- what is the point / problem you are trying to solve?

A change for a sake of a change is IMO pointless.

Plus why is it only me and CEE Jay on this thread that have our car's deets in our signature?

If you all had yours then the questions of year/engine size would never occur again....grrr

Maybe because "Veteran Member"???
That don't work, I had my signature before I even posted the first time. Course I DID lurk for a month or so before first post.

I’ve been reading through the service manual and the intercooler seems pretty small and stacked by the radiator. Looks like the packaging on the X150 doesn’t really allow for anything larger to be added without major work.
I haven’t been able to find a source for OEM fitment intercooler but with a larger core.

I read that thread link already but it looks like there isn't a smaller heat exchanger in front of the radiator. I do see two small coolers about 6"x12" on each end. You can see them through the bottom grill. Are these dual intercoolers? Haven't read about anything like that on our cars. Plus wouldn't it use dual pumps. Haven't read about dual pumps either. I want to find out because a bigger pump and a stock/upgraded heat exchanger is ok with me. If it's only a radiator/heat exchanger then getting a kc would be a goal. Eurotoys sells the 03-06 xkr radiator/intercooler upgrade with pump. The way the kit is, seems like they have no dedicated heat exchanger.

There are bigger heat exchangers available. I don’t think they are necessarily any more efficient based on the design. Separate the system. Upgrade the pump. Bolt on a bigger crank pulley and a tune and enjoy

Kazi, the small radiators you see as you look through the grill are the engine oil coolers. I have attached a PDF from page 1544 of my manual that shows all the radiators stacked in front of the engine. The big grey one (#8) in the front is the heat exchanger. Number (#7) is its pump.

In fact, the cooling system of the car is responsible for the transmission cooling (heat exchanger), super charger and engine. (Not to mention the heating of throttle body and passenger compartment, of course.)
I am surprised a heat exchanger isn't incorporated with the power steering fluid...
If yours is supercharged, have you noticed the auxiliary radiator?
With some other cars, a typical upgrade is an oversized and efficient radiator. I was thinking of an improvement to the cooling system for the sake of the transmission and power steering but never got around to it.
