Default An interesting new symptom

Ok, here goes:

1. I put my 2008 XK into reverse and slowly back-up.
2. As I back-up, I turn my steering wheel all the way to the end of its travel either left or right.
3. I put the car into Drive and as I slowly roll forward, I start to slowly turn the wheel back towards center and as I do, I feel a distinct "pulsating" in the steering wheel..
4. This only occurs in the first three to four inches of travel as I return the wheel to center...
5. I never feel this "pulsating" any other time.

Thoughts anyone??

My 07 Z06 does the same thing. It's called wheel chatter. It's wide tires held at full lock when accelerating.

I\That's not to say there isn't something wrong with your car, but I've experienced the same anomaly on many cars with wide front tires.

If it bugs you I guess you could always have your dealer look into it.

Tom

I have just noticed that my '07 does this now. Thanks Tom for the advice.

I think virtually every car I've ever owned does this to some degree, including my XF..

I noticed the same thing, pulsting when parking on my 2008 XKR. The service rep said it was normal and when I drove a new XF loaner it did exactly the same thing. No worries.
