Interesting Problem: Tachometer on 2012 XKR stuck at times

Odd situation I have noted on my XKR. I also thought the tachometer at times moved like a second hand clock almost like it was slightly getting stuck. Here lately when I go into S mode and the revs go high when it comes down it does get stuck and alters the tachometer. Zero becomes 1800-2200 RPM and therefore it looks like im driving around gunning it when im not.
When I turned the car off it comes down and stays at 1800-2200 RPM. It has happened twice both times dealer knows.
the only way to get the thing to reset is to lock the door, unlick the door, open the door, close the door...then it ticks down to about 1000 rpm then falls down to zero real quickly.
I was told by the dealership they have never seen anything like this ever.

Yes had this on my previous XF. Occasionally after passing 3500 revs, the rev counter only returned to 2000 revs at Idle. A tap on the glass returned it to its normal position. I part exchanged the car before its next service. It only happened now and again which would have made diagnosis problematical

Maybe your dealer would put a new one in on warranty.

They know about it and have seen it even stuck...have seen my pics. They are going to look into it and see if Jaguar will replace the tachometer. Wonder how hard that will be I can see a whole dash coming out!! UGH!!! That being said something needs done as it will likely only get worse if the part is defective.
