Interior trim - ashtray cover removal

Interior trim - ashtray cover removal
Gooday. I've taken delivery of my MY11 XKR which is even more awesome than I'd hoped. I suppose that I had expected it to be similar to drive to the XF, but really they are nothing alike. And I'd never driven one before, over here they are massively expensive new (this one was over $200K new), so you dont see too many demonstrators.
It came with warm charcoal/walnut trim which I thought dated it a bit. So I have wrapped the centre stack in piano black, and the glovebox and dash bits in metallic black. It looks good. But I cant figure out how to get the ashtray cover off, or the door pieces. Anyone know?
Thanks...

We have a lot going in taxes - a luxury car tax, then GST, and stamp duties. But really it is mainly car companies rorting us as much as they can. Jag's profit per vehicle in Oz (Australia) is a lot more than in the US, but they sell only a fraction of them. But the price differences are amazing. The basic 2.0 XF is about $80K, then the 6 cyl supercharged about $130K, then the 5 litre portfolio was $175K, and the XFR about $200K. So that is a difference from bottom to top of about $120K, when in the US that difference wouldnt be $30K. Really gives me the irrits...

hmmm, very tempting except the steering wheel is on the right over here! But as an example, a client of mine bought a 2010 Mustang in the US for $25K Australian (which was on a par with the USD at the time). He bought it over and had it converted to RHD, which cost about another $20K. He could have sold it easily at the time for over $80K Australian. I think that the prices have fallen a bit because Mustangs will be sold over here in 2015. But a newish corvette would probably cost $150K. A 2012 XKR with low mileage (kilometres) wouold sell for maybe $160K here. I havent seen a used XKRS, but I suppose $180K plus would be achievable.
But let's not forget, does anyone know how to take the ashtray trim off?

My ashtray cover was loose when I bought my XKR and from what I remember there are a number of 'feet' under the cover that fit in slots so as per the diagram you need to hold the shuttle in place whilst sliding the ashtray cover off it.
Jaguars used to be a similar price to yours here in NZ but the dealers got fed up with independents importing cars and heavily undercutting them so the list price was reduced by quite a bit a couple of years ago. They still do undercut them but the margin isn't so great now.

Cheers! I found that in a different place as well http://www.jagrepair.com/images/TSB/...501004NASF.pdf which is a general ashtray fix.
Couldnt find out how to get the door trim off, so I wrapped it in situe. It all looks brilliant (to me).
Yes, I've seen what I think is an import here too - around $155K for a 2012 model - but I suppose no warranty and trouble selling them, not really my cuppa.
Thanks again...now to enjoy my newly modernised baby...
