Default Interior wood trim

Hi, I have just bought an XKR 2008 RHD. It has a caramel/ biscuit interior with Aluminium dash facings. Are they easy to replace? Does anyone have a wood trim kit for sale or know where I can get one please. I am not modern enough for metal trim. Any suggestions or help would be gratefully appreciated. Regards, Mick

I did the same swap with my 2007 XK. It's an easy job.

Difficult to find (I found mine on ebay) but you will find the aluminium set easy to sell.

I ma not sure if there is a difference with the LHD and RHD (Besides the obvious) BUT here is a forum member selling what I believe you need https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/market/233144

Edit,

Upon closer inspection the dash trim seems to be reversed, but the other pieces might fit interchangeably. If so, it might be easier to source an additional Dash piece as opposed to a whole set, you could piece it together that way potentially

If you can't find the OEM Jaguar wood on Ebay, this aftermarket alternative is inexpensive and might work for you.

Another possibility is to remove all your tin foil trim and wrap them with the wood-look automotive vinyl of your choice. It's incredibly realistic looking and you can probably do it yourself.

Good luck!

I forgot to mention, the aluminium instrument pack veneer is perforated with three slots but the wood veneer types use a separate plastic miniature grille:

P/N XR8 1063LEG was 16 UKP in 2014.

I would happily trade my wood interior trim for your aluminum!

It is presumably LHD and the OP is in the UK with a RHD.

I have a complete genuine wood trim kit from my RHD 07 XKR Portfolio, my cars now fitted with a complete aluminium trim kit which I prefer. The wood trim is in nice condition.

Whats the complete kit worth?, I am not against selling it as will likely just store it unused for years

I also have this small grille for the wood trim kit to go with it.

It's the shipping from NZ that'll be the costly part, esp as you have a RHD the only place you could really sell it is in OZ, Japan and the UK.

Its not that bad, I import /export out of NZ weekly and a rough calculation shows I could send the kit door to door to the UK for around 100 pounds sterling and maybe closer to 70 on a 10 day service.

I bought one of these kits years ago before attempting to refinish the wood on one of my mid 80's VDP's. They are like a puffy laminated plastic. Absolutely tacky imo. It doesn't look remotely close to what you see in the pics and certainly not like real wood. Not sure if this was the vendor I used but you'll definitely want to look into something else like hydro dipping or a re-veneer. Just sayin.

Default Wood or Plastic Dash?

Greetings:
As a new 2008 XKR owner, I have been asked two quirky questions from my buddies.
1. Is the wood dash real?
2. What's the gas mileage, does it use a lot of gas?
Personally, I think both questions are rooted in envy. None the less, I would like to give a technical answer to question #1.

PS Not sure if I should have started a new thread for this minor issue.

I. YES - wood veneer over either a metal or plastic base (depending on location in the vehicle)
2. I only worry about fuel consumption when filling it for the third time in the same day crossing Europe but you don't buy a Jaguar for economy

Tell your buddies who ask you about the gas mileage that anyone who worries about gas mileage should buy a Prius, and not an XKR. Unlike a Prius with a gas pedal, your XKR is equipped with an exhilarator pedal! Life is short, enjoy the ride!

Your fuel mileage will vary greatly depending on how you drive, anywhere from under 13 MPG in stop-and-go city driving using the paddle shifters to over 25 MPG on the highway at 65 MPH using the cruise control.
