Introducing my "Splendid Cat" at long last!
Well, boys....after an exhaustive search and much stress, I finally took possession of my first and very own Jaguar XK. I came close on a few others, but finally was able to find the right combination of mileage, condition, appearance and price. Some of you may recall, I essentially had an Italian Racing Red one locked up, but ran afoul of unethical dealer behavior and had to move on. A week later this one popped up and I couldn't be more pleased. I still can't believe she's sitting in my driveway as we speak.
Last Tuesday, I got up at 3am, although honestly I slept very little the night before, took a cab to the airport to catch a 5:30am flight to Newark, NJ. Got to the dealer about 12:45 and after paperwork and inspection, I was on the road by 1:30pm. Drove 6 hours to Harrisonburg, VA, spent the night and got on the road again at 9:30am the next day. At 8:30pm Central time EXACTLY and after an 1,109 mile trip, I pulled into my driveway and we were home. I haven't stopped smiling since then.
Many thanks to Stuart S, GGG, and ESPECIALLY Sean W for their assistance and advice during the time that I was searching.

She's a beaut! Enjoy her, I certainly have enjoyed mine. I passed 182,000 miles on my 2010 XKR yesterday. And I lent it out to a driving buddy who although he has a new Alfa Guilia, wants to get a 2door GT and has heard me raving about mine. He messaged me last night saying how much he is enjoying driving it and how he loves the burble of the exhaust. I asked him if after driving a 182,000 example, was he more or less inclined to buy one, and his answer was "Much more inclined." He loves it. Those of us who are lucky enough to have them know the feeling. And what a better way to get to know your new car and to inspire confidence in her than an 1100 mile trip on the first day of ownership. WOW!

Thank you, Sean. And thank you SO much for all your assistance and advice. I never thought I'd be as pleased with this car as I am. In terms of looks, it truly is a work of art. I find myself going out to my garage and out to the parking lot at work multiple times a day just to look at it.

Thanks very much. I originally hoped to find one with the beige interior, but the charcoal with the wood accents suits me just perfectly now that I see it in person.
Btw, I'm envious of you getting to live in Somerset. I was stationed in Cambridgeshire for two years and loved visiting Bath and the surrounding areas in Somerset. The UK absolutely became my adopted/home away from home while I was there. My shared love of the US and the UK is partly why I occasionally fly the Grand Union flag you see in the pictures above. That, and I'm a huge nerd for history. Hopefully, one day I can return there and do a driving tour of as much of the country as possible.

Mazel tov on your new acquisition!
my 2009 XK Coupe with 34k miles has been nothing but a joy to drive!
When I owned MB’s and BMW’s, they were nothing but trouble and as common as a Yugo!
when you get to the point where you need tires, look up Landsail Tyres; they’re half the price with a 50k mile warranty; extremely smooth, soft ride!
