Introduction from a new XK owner
Hello All, Just a quick introduction: I have been a contributing member of Jaguarforums.com since 2016, but am new to the X150 forum. I've been restoring a barn-find 2005 XK8 convertible over the past 5 years and have just about got it right, but I lucked onto a 2010 XK convertible with only 47,000 miles on it with a price too good to turn down in Dallas, TX, a couple of weeks ago and flew there from Las Vegas to pick it up and drive it back. I enjoyed a great 1,875 mile trip, stopping at Carlsbad Caverns in southeast New Mexico, a recreation of the "Shootout at the OK Corral" in Tombstone, AZ, (good guys won again...), the Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ, and even stopped for a picture of the London Bridge, now located in Lake Havasu City. Gas mileage ranged from 23.8 mpg to 26.8 mpg, at speeds from 65 mph to 75 mph (plus or minus...). Way more fun than having it shipped here, for sure. While I didn't experience any mechanical problems per se, I had 2 "confirmed" error codes pop up, including P0106 (Manifold Absolute pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance Problem), and a B10AC error code. I've changed both air filters (right side was dirtier than the left), and am waiting to get it in to my excellent local indie mechanic to check them out. He's thinking that there may be a vacuum leak somewhere and will smoke test it, but I was wondering if any experienced members might have suggestions. I've also noticed some orange coolant staining at the back of the engine (on top of the rear of the transmission housing), but the coolant level does not seem to have gone down.
Here's a couple of pix of the "new" car; I have to decide if I can afford to keep them both or will have to tearfully let the '05 XK8 go. It rides and drives differently than the XK, which everyone already knows, and I've gone completely all through the suspension parts, (front and rear), shocks, water pump, hoses, belts, pulleys, thermostat and housing, transmission and differential fluid changes, new tires, brakes and rotors, brake switch, brake fluid change, both rear wheel bearings, parking brakes, radiator hoses; pretty much everything but the hoses under the manifold and convertible top hoses. Plus, I happened to be in the wrong place at the right time and was able to transport a victim that had been hit twice by the Mandalay Bay mass shooter back on Oct 1, 2017 (he survived ok). They're both awesome to drive and I get an equal amount of compliments on both of them (though the '05 lets my girlfriend pack more shoes into the trunk for weekend getaway...). Decisions, decisions!

Beautiful ride, I have the same color interior but with a white exterior, love it!
Congrats and Graham (GGG) will be happy to know an American actually collected a car instead of transporting. Good choice in car and road trip. After all you have done to the your 2005 seems would difficult to part with...

Very nice!
I have found that I just don't really use my X100 any more, my X150 is more spacious (I also have the coupe so big hatch), handles better, is faster, and much more modern despite the few years separating the cars. The X100 is kind of more like a classic car in how it drives, and enjoyable in it's own right. I am deciding to finish a few repairs and sell it on for a Granturismo or DB9; and it's been a long decision since ive owned the car 10 years now. Good luck on figuring out what to do! Having two Jaguars is hardly a hardship if you do decide to keep it (I did 3 for 2 years lol) .

To be honest, I contacted Graham (GGG) to get his thoughts about the X150 vs the X100 before purchasing, and am appreciative of his very valuable input. He is the one who suggested I chronicle the trip home and include some pics. Later this summer after I get the XK error codes corrected, I have a one month, 4,000 mile "Great Northwest Driving Tour and Photography Extravaganza" mapped out which will include the Zion National Park in Utah, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone in Wyoming, Glacier National Park in Montana, Seattle Washington, Crater Lake in Oregon, the Redwoods in California, Highway 1 along the California Coast, San Francisco, Big Sur and various points on the way back to Las Vegas. My girlfriend, a professional photographer, has already told me to get some shirts with 2 pockets to pack my necessities in so she can take more shoes on the trip. Photos will follow!
Note to pk4144: we had a great time and did meet quite a few interesting old "characters" in Tombstone, including, very possibly, your stepdad. I myself grew up a cowboy on a 600 acre cattle ranch in eastern Oklahoma and am related to George "Bitter Creek" Newcomb of the famed Dalton and Doolin gang and the Wild Bunch gang, (though I chose to be an Oklahoma police officer for many years).

By the way, I absolutely love the color on your XK. Congrats on the purchase!
