Default issue with ambient temp sensor

Hi everybody,
I just got myself a 2011 XK convertible and I need help with locating the ambient temperature sensor.
I looked in the workshop manual corresponding to my VIN ending with B38875 and found that the outside temperature sensor is located behind the front bumper.I got the part from Delco and brought it to my mechanic .He took the bumper apart but couldn't find the sensor (I also checked but couldn't find it either)
Does anyone knows where this sensor is exactly located?
Thanks for your help!

Is there an empty connector where the sensor should be located? Maybe a previous owner had it removed, or it fell out?

The AAT sensor is inside the LH wing mirror. For details, see Post # 10 by Forum Member u102768:

Be sure to read the entire thread, as the cause of that OP's problem was a blown AC fuse, and not a bad AAT sensor.

Hi Stuart,
thanks for your input.
In PaulEddy's case the the outside temp was at -40C continually .In my case the outside temps varies all the time and is about 50F below real outside temp (I'm located in Florida). The first confusing thing is that there is 2 AATS .One to measure temp" around the vehicle" in the LH wing mirror and another one in front of the vehicle to measure "the external air temperature".I found after some research (and I maybe wrong) that in my case the second one is related to my issue.
The other confusing thing is that the location of sensor located in the front of the vehicle varies depending on the VIN.
For VIN between B00379 to B32752 its located under the radiator for example.
Thanks again for your help.

So something is providing sensor input, not a missing sensor. Since the car is ‘new’ to you, a previous owner may have had front end work done, and the sensor was moved. Perhaps the person doing the work didn’t know it’s function and wrapped it up along with the wire looms that appear in that same area?

I couldn't find anyone just selling the Ambient Temperature Sensor in the LH mirror. Apparently it's the same part as Volvo 30674546.

In the 4.2 it's much easier to reach. Remove the splash shield and it's there.
