Default It's been fun and very educational

After 3 years here, both posting and reading about Jag's, and gaining valuable info. on my 2010 XK I'm saying "Goodbye"
I really enjoyed my XK, lots of compliments, fun to drive, pretty trouble free, but always that lingering thought in the back of my mind about what tomorrow might bring. I guess I just read about to many things that could go wrong.
Found someone who really wanted it and offered me just about what I paid for it 3 years ago. I figured I'd send it down the road while it was in great shape with no problems. Have no separation anxiety, but do feel relief.
Thanks again.

Sounds like you did the "right thing" for yourself. If the ownership of the Jag was leaving you with some anxiety of any future issues, that would undoubtedly take away the enjoyment of ownership. Jaguars are definitely not Toyotas in the reliability dept, and it takes a certain owner who is willing to accept that trade off between total reliability with reasonable maintenance and having something different that is not only exciting to drive, but brings attention where ever you go. You should be glad with your decision. Good luck with whatever your next car may be. .

You can't ask for more than enjoying the three years ownership with little trouble and then almost getting your money back. The best way say "Goodbye" to the XK.

I guess we should be thankful for that.

In the early 2000's Toyota replaced thousands of their 4 cylinder engines, had a massive recall for sticky accelerators and what about the hundreds of thousands of Tacoma frames that were replaced in the 2010's.

Not bashing Toyota, I have a 95 T100, but Ford....with a horrid recall record....did right by Jaguar.

I always think that's the problem with forums, no one ever posts about their years of trouble free ownership, only when they have a problem to fix.
Good luck with your new car just make sure it's cheap to fix & boring to drive.

After a $4K+ journey to my local dealership ("generator" / alternator, vacuum pump, battery) I've been having the same thoughts. It's unfortunate that Jaguar - and most modern cars in general - have become so complicated.

I cannot follow this line of reasoning, frankly speaking. I am on my third XKR (4.2 X150) and my seventh Jag in total by now. Never ever sold one of the prior one without rather sonner than later regretting it. The present one is the first “old” car I ever bought. Needed a new battery and “enjoyed” the duckbill issue. No further problems at all. Others leave money on the table because of depreciation, I am putting aside a smaller amount for maintenance and enjoy one of the best (yes, this is a subjective statement!) and most beautiful cars ever built, beyond Jaguar.

However, having said all this, I am not convinced of JLR’s current strategy and believe they should do more in support of their heritage models. Porsche shows how this can (and should?) be done.

PS. Total mileage on Jags exceeding 600,000km, including >25,000km with the latest one.

jbmi - sounds like a great outcome. No one needs anxiety. Hope you can find a replace that works for you.
Jon Wat - easy solution is own both XK/R and a Lexus (or similar). Boring car but indestructible. Congrats on your incredible car.
Tracee - ouch. Suggest cut your costs by going w a good indy. Also, cost to repair comparable lux cars (Bimmers, Benz, Lex) also expensive
Love my 07 XKR. Went in figuring I have to pay to play w/ the occasional expensive repair. Do expect it will be hard to find parts. Upside is I own a gorgeous car that is the performance car bargain of the century. I like having the distinctive ride in a parking lot filled w/ bland mass produced cars. Entered my first car show. Plan to attend Jag events on the West Coast (and get in beach time). Guess it's more than just owning a car.
