Thank you Rahtok and Ghost.
Ghost the led's look simple to do, I will get that done. Your Range interior looks great, nice design and color combo.
Rahtok, with regard to #2, I want a split screen where it's half navi and half radio...it was in the DTS rental and it was great.
Is brake dust a big issue, my wheels look like crap after 2 days? Anyone hear any negatives using the anti brake dust spray, if it gets on the rotors does it cause squeal? The brakes on my gal's Lexus IS stop very well and leave almost no dust with no noise. My 911's brakes also were Low dust and no doubt stopped extremely well with no squeal...what is Jag's problem?

I have used the anti-dust brake sprays with only limitted success. My plan is to eventually replace the pads on the XK with ceramics. I made the switch on my LR3 about a year ago and have seen a MAJOR improvement. I can drive the LR around for a couple of weeks now without seeing any significant accumulation of dust...

Right on Stillwaters.
When I had my 05 XJR I could control the brake dust with various sprays and I was adamantly against ceramics as a dust control measure.
But - I now have an 07 XK and the brake dust is intolerable and sprays just don't cut it. I recently changed pads on the rear to see if that helps. My God. I could not get home from the car wash without trashing up the wheels. We shall see.

Thanks. I'm not sure ceramics may be the only choice as if our Lexus and my former Carrera S had no issues with dust and their pads were not ceramic why can't we find ones for the Jag?
I also do not want brakes that squeal, the Lexus and the Porsche brakes dont have any noise issues; as a matter of fact the brakes on the IS are considered low dust by Lexus and nice and quiet, the also bite nicely well needed.
We bought a new Toureg(sp) and it was the king if brake dust, but fortunately about 90 days after purchase VW issued a service bulletin for low dust pads and it was a huge improvement JAGUAR ARE YOU LISTENING???
I wonder if the brakes on the new XJ are having this issue?
Are you guys saying the armor all wheel coating does not improve things at all? I was hoping that would help somewhat.

I can say the same about the Armor-All spray, it helped a bit but not a lot.... My car gets washed so often it was more a hassle to apply the spray than to just clean them...

Same here. I wash the Jaguar weekly (and the wheels are BLACK by then). Unfortunately, I just did not see any real improvement with the anti-dust spray. My boss has a BMW 750LI and he swears by the stuff, but it really didn't work for me..

Jaguar needs to step up on this issue and issues TSB
#28
I switched my IS over to EBC Redstuff (not concerned about dust but wanting more performance) and the dust went down a bit over the OEM pads but not by a lot (BTW Lexus also released a TSB switching owners to low dust pads).

When my spine was'nt ruined I'd be just like you guys washing it weekly and really loving it. Funny thing is there's not too many new cars out there today with heavy 1980's style brake dust except Jag...WTF?
Has anyone found a replacement for the XKR that is low dust and no noise?

I'm in South FL, and with my poor spine I'd be a wreck when I got there, but thanks so much for the invite. wish I could be there.

Thanks Mike and Chris your kind thoughts are most appreciated.
Ill fill everyone in on the dangers of epidurals another time as you guys should really know the truth about these things; Bloomberg had an excellent article on the dangers of these things about 4 weeks ago and I'll share it soon.

When you get the time, I'd be interested in hearing about your views on epidurals. Now that I've gone throught the procedure myself, I can't say that I'd be eager to do it again.
Best,
Mike

The brake dust was really annoying on my old (2000) XKR. The Jag specialist (not a dealer) I took it to switched the pads out for ceramics and it was like night and day. Zero dust, braking was much improved and the pads last much longer too.
It boggles my mind why Jag dealers don't even provide ceramic pads as an option, let alone fit ceramics as standard from the factory.
As soon as the pads on my 2008 XKR get low I will switch them over to ceramics without a second thought. I'm just worried that it might not be possible to source ceramic pads to fit the 6 pot Alcon brakes that come on the portfolio edition.

If you'd like PM me your # and I'd be happy to call you one evening and share all my knowledge and experience. I will (if it's ok with the mods) start a thread with the Bloomberg article and professional papers that are rather shocking. It would also be great to compare notes on our cars since we both have 2012 R verts.

If we can get that petition going maybe Jag would finally offer a low dust pad.

I may be guilty here of not studying the owners manual deeply enough so in advance please forgive me if I'm missing a basic functionality. Re: #5 and getting basic nav info via the LCD between between the main dials. If I'm correct I don't think you can get this to happen on the 07XK's. Am i missing something? I note you have a 2010 XKR so is this an XKR or later year capability? Other 07 owners please chime in.
I too get a little frustrated at having to navigate in out of screens to do basic functions. Sometimes good ol' buttons and dials are just fine. If I'm in one of the audio screens and I want to turn off the heated seat it takes at least 4 key strokes - press home button and then 3 consecuive touches of the heated seat icon to go from 3 bars to off - thats not efficient. Give me a dial or a switch any day. Touch screens need to be well thought out and this one is not -IMHO

Mine do add noticable comfort in some situations, with the improvement going mostly unnoticed I'm sure as I marvel at driving this fantastic car. Snap out of it...they are not worthless!
Now my XKE was incredibly hot to drive. No perforated seats, no air conditioning, and I can't remember if it even had dash vents. Your right leg burned from roasting heat coming off the transmission tunnel...and that darn sun just didn't help. Easily the worst built car I ever owned...but I loved every moment I owned it over 8 years. Driving on balmy evenings after the sun went down with my girl was the best, and 37 years later when I said I wanted to buy another XK she said "let's get the convertible".
The A/C and vented seats are cool, but that darn sun is hotter than ever. Fortunately the top on this one goes up with the push of a button and complete comfort can be quickly and easily restored.
I really hope you'll be able to enjoy your beautiful new XKR, even if it's only a fraction as much as the rest of us here do given your unfortunate condition. If you consider the countless discerning members that have stated it's the best car they've ever owned...I think the chances of that should be pretty good!

My 2008 XKR has regular pads and always squeaks when slowing from about 10mph down to stationary, or when creeping along in stop-go traffic.
The dealer I bought the car from said they probably wont be able to stop the squeak and the Jag specialist I go to said its pretty much normal for the brakes I have.
I'm hoping my eventual switch to ceramic will stop the squeak too, just because of the different material characteristics. I haven't actually ever read/heard anything about ceramics fixing or causing squeaking though.

I will agree that the touchscreen controls for everything are annoying. I want to have physical buttons for several things. Primarily the heated/cooled seats. Secondarily, I want Title AND artist at the same time on the screen from the iPod / Sirius. Thirdly, I DO want a water and oil pressure gauge. Fourthly, GAWD I love this car.
And as far as Nav on the screen between the dials, There's an option in the NAV setup somewhere to display directions on that screen. It's not the map, but it's turn direction and distance -- kinda like Onstar if you've ever had that.

Now you're getting **** The car blows air on your *** through fully perforated seat covering and you still don't appreciate it?

I was informed by the dealer prior to buying that the car has Petlier cooling units in the seats and they were not dependent upon the ac too cool them. Part of the symptoms I suffer from due to the nerve damage is burning in the back of my thighs/legs, so the cooler the seat bottom gets the better. Since the system apparently has a lot to do ac, when the top is down the cooling is greatly diminished; if I would have known this to be the case I would have purchased a coupe. Aside from loving the styling of the car the cooled seats is what brought me over to Jag in the first place. The dealership is trying to see what they might be able to do to boost the cooling effect for me...the GM and service director have been very kind and empathetic toward my situation. When the top is up the seat cools well, but as I mentioned cooled seats for even normal people should work well when the top is down on hot sunny days when it's needed most especially if you live in a southern state.
