I was at a holiday party sitting next to a Mercedes sales guy from the biggest local dealership. To him, the SLK was the most fun to drive AMG model in the whole line up, including the SLR. My point is based solely on mainstream opinion on the appearance. I don't mind a small car and would consider boxster, cayman, slk, etc...
But I am just not digging German cars so much. Italy and UK are making are the coolest cars.

Honestly, if you cannot get many Jaguar enthusiasts to see the F-Type as a 911-competitor, how on earth are you going to get the general public to see it that way?
I think Jaguar missed some opportunities. They should've made the car smaller and more playful like a Boxster. Or perhaps more in the image of a Subaru BRZ with more tech features, luxury, beauty and perhaps a smidge more comfort. Something like the Alfa 4C would've been fantastic!
