Default Jag XK with Aston Martin Bodykit?

I happened to come across this listing.

Anyone heard of this kit that transforms a beautiful Jag into a Wannabe Aston?

In my opinion, it's a little "Bride of Frankenstein"... And I am being polite!

To each his own of course!

Forum member "bighenderson" had an Aston body kit on his car that he has since returned to its Jagness roots. Wasn't a bad looking car. I have done some customizing on my 2010 XKR as well, although it's not Aston related. I just noticed that this car has the same rear bumper/diffuser that I used from F/X Designs.

Looks awful. Too bad as that is one of my favorite Jaguar colors.

Dont jump on me guys. But being new around here i notice there's allot of reference about how the XKs can look and sound like an Aston Martin.
Really? Is the Jaguar XK image that weak that it has to be dressed up as another marques?
I have never thought about my xk looking or sounding like an Aston before i joined the forum, and now i seem to be reading about it in some was every day.
IMO the XK/XKR stands alone.

Thats what the kit is meant to look like

The common reference to the Aston Martin is obviously due to the fact that Ian designed both vehicles and the astons 4.3 is part of the aj engine family

In terms of exhaust the Astons note is absolutely devine why wouldnt we want our cars sounding more like it

Because its not an aston, its an XK that sounds like the awsome xk that it is.

Yes i will agree the xk exhaust in full swing is intoxicating but a little lackluster at idle that's why im always comparing it to the Aston as the Aston v8 sounds good at full swing and idle
However in the f type 5l they have seemed to over come this issue must be the factory fitted x-pipe

I like the Jag and I like the AM style but you can not put a grill only on a Jag to make it look like the AM. Part of each style is the way the headlights are integrated into the design. So in my opinion I do not like it. As for the rear with the large exhaust surround I think it takes away from the flow of the rear shape so I'm out there. So my net is the Jag is great and the AM is great just as they are.

FX Design (Chicago) has advertised the Aston look-a-like front bumper cover on Ebay for several months now at about $5500.

Body kits like that are popular when someone buys a salvaged car and doesn't want to invest in buying expensive OEM parts and make things right.

As for exhaust trying to emulate an AM, most want a more aggressive sound, throatier, deeper, louder... AM happens to also have that sound. It's not that Jag owners want to "be like them" I think it's more that AM went that route that many also wanted. Ferrari owners, turbo Porsche owners, sport bike owners usually want to follow that trend too

This subject has been covered in such great detail recently that it isn't worth debating again.

There will be those that feel the XK is better looking (or nearly identical) to an AM and capable of similar performance, at least the XKR. There are those that feel the AM is a huge step up in every way (that is where I am) and is no comparison.

As shown in previous threads there are those on each extreme and all in-between. It is what it is, a forum of many varying opinions.

As far as the car in this listing, it is an abomination. The AM top grill is one thing, but that bottom splitter and grill looks nothing like an AM and is reminiscent of a over-modded rice rocket.

Yeah thanks for that, i know how forums are, they are usualy the same in one way or another, same carictors and personalities just under another marque.
I did the DB9 thing 8 years ago, that car was plagued with electrical problems but was fantastic when it ran.
However a AM is still an AM and a XK is still an XK. As an ex owner i dont compare my XK my old DB9.
But yes people are different with varying opinions, as you say thats forums.

That looks pretty good and very smooth lines. Even though I'm not a fan of single tips they fit in pretty well. Nice

Leeper,
I guess I don't fit your description. I have a clean titled XKR, I have the original (in new condition) rear bumper in storage, I liked the F/X Design's rear bumper/diffuser, but not the front one (I hated the exhaust tips and I thihk everyone can see why in the pictures of the advertised car), and I see nothing wrong with customizing an automobile to fit one's taste. And finally, the F/X Design's rear bumper is far more expensive than the OEM rear bumper so it's not done to save money.

The "faux" Jaguar Aston Martin looks terrible and still looks like a Jaguar, nowhere even close to an Aston Martin.
