Honestly, I would go with Easy Care or fidelity. There has been a lot of bad press regarding many extended warranty companies- they won't cover an item, delays in approval, go out of business, etc. These 2 companies have a solid reputation, especially in the porsche community. Easy care total care covers more than porsche CPO warranty. The only part that wasn't covered for me was a cracked boost hose on my previous porsche.

A couple of points to consider:
The Jaguar warranty, offered to me by the dealer, covers the use of jaguar parts. Every other warranty company I have investigated, will use aftermarket as applicable.
The dealer will not "repair" and engine or transmission with significant internal issues. They replace the engine or transmission and ship the broken one back to the factory. This will probably not occur with any other warranty company.

I ended up going with the Credit Unions 48 month, 48,000 mile warranty.
Its called Members Choice Mechanical Repair Coverage administered by Consumer Program Administrators, Inc. in AZ.
It cost me $1859 with the $250 deductible. This was the only warranty where I could find this high of a deductible. I guess you could call this "catastrophic" coverage. I just wanted to be saved from a large repair bill from a major failure.
The credit union seemed to be satisfied with this company and they typically are very interested in keeping their members happy.

Did you buy the extended warranty? I've just picked up my 2009 XKR Portfolio and the dealer wanted to sell me an "extended warranty" (note: anything sold after market is a "service contract" not an "extended warranty"; a subtle legal distinction but possibly significant if you go have to go legal). My car has 50k miles which is a little higher than I usually buy but i was looking for a XKR PE Coupe and this was in exceptional condition. I am not into garage queens and this will be my daily driver. The "warranty" is by Jaguar and is bumper to bumper (with the exception, those items that wear) no deductible 36k or 3 yrs and costs $3650. I'm undecided as well. "Extended warranties" always sound like a suckers bet to me because your betting the car will crap out and need a major repair within 3 years and the dealer is betting it won't. Who has more data to draw from to determine reliability, obvious answer the dealer. Why not throw the $3650 into the bank for three years? If you have a major repair you've got the money (or at least a good portion of it) if not you've got seed money for your next Jag purchase. Right now I'm leaning towards the latter and say save your money especially if your Jag is reserved for special outings. Maybe there are better contracts out there but I am betting the car is reliable and come 3 years I'll be ahead of the game.

I understand the gamble but the stand alone costs are usually MUCH higher then the warranty if you have any major problems. If one can get for 4k a warranty that covers 7 more yrs and up to 100,000 on the clock I think it would be worth it. I plan on beating the hell out of my 2012 XKR well over 100k miles so I want to make sure its sound until at least it reaches the "bury her" phase of ownership. Will look into a jaguar sponsored warranty soon. mine runs out 11-12/15 on my 2012.

also.... does anybody know if the car stays low miles is there a TIMEFRAME that these company say they will no longer insure (due to time passed only)???

 

All you need to make the purchased extended warranty worth it, is one major failure like the HVAC system or some such thing. I had that kind of a failure with my 2004 XJR which more than paid for the extended warranty.

 

And if it doesnt happen so be it.. but thats 100,000 worry free miles if something major were to Konk out!! Im going to look into it!

I purchased my 2010 XK about one and a half years ago and did get the highly recommended easy care total care 6 year 60,000 miles warranty with a $50 deductible. Let me list the mistakes I personally made. Firstly,yes the 2010 XK is vastly improved in reliability over the earlier models. However one major occurrence can be expensive. However there are few major issues with this car. My car only had 5,000 miles on it when I purchased it, so I didn't really need a low deductible as I put only 2500 miles on it a year. I should have taken at least a $150 deductible. Since purchase, my car has never seen the service dept other than an oil and brake fluid change. No issues or problems. My contract was quite expensive... close to $3400 for the 6 year $50 deductible policy. I'm sure I probably will never use it or pro rate it if I sell my car sooner. I didn't choose wisely as I'm a fanatic and hardly drive my car. For someone who is a daily drive DEFINITELY get a warranty. These cars are not made by Toyota.

 

On May 30th, 2015 I will have owned my 2009 Jaguar XKR Portfolio Edition for 2 years. So far expenses for normal maintenence have been $135.00 for an inspection and oil & filter change by the local Jaguar dealership.

The Jaguar XKR has run flawlessly and has proven to be a dependable and reliable vehicle. I have not recorded any problems with the XKR. I currently have 16,823 recorded miles and the XKR has been a pleasure to own and drive.

I did change out the OEM Selena wheels for the Braelin BR02 Hypersilver wheels and a new set of Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires at my own discreation.
