Default Jaguar XK 2011 Convertible

Car was in storage for the winter on trickle charger. Started like a charm. Drove it about 20 kms on first couple of days. This morning it was dead as a door nail. May have left a light on or a door ajar. Boosted it and it started fine. Was expecting to have to reset the windows but they were fine. Was expecting to have to reset the roof but it is dead. No movement at all. No messages about the rear panel in the trunk being out of place. Wound the roof down manually and back up again, Checked all three fuses and they were good. This happened once before when the battery went dead a few years ago but was able to bring it back and aligned following the defined proceeedure. At least that time there was some movement and energy. This time nothing. Dead. Appreciate any insight.

It's ALWAYS a poor battery. If yours went dead before, it's probably nigh onto worthless now.
Get a new battery, then charge the new battery. THEN install the new battery.

I always wonder when someone says they use a "trickle" charger. If you mean a battery tender or battery maintainer, then that's fine. But a true trickle charger will, over time, fry your battery as they don't shut off when the battery is fully charged.

How old is the battery - mine started great one morning, drove to my buds - tried to start the car 2 hours later and battery was dead like the parrot in the cage in the Monty Pythons skit. 7-8 years is about all you'll get.

The term is often applied to smart chargers that can be left connected as it looks like a similar action to a trickle charger but, of course, it isn't.

Some trickle changers are only 0.5A or less and could be left safely connected over the winter to a battery the size of the one used in the Jaguar. Such a small current will do very little gassing, if any, and a wet battery can easily be topped up again if necessary. A sealed battery will easily recombine the gasses at 0.5A and nothing will be lost.

I had the battery replaced. The rear windows are still stuck in the down position. I'm planning to lower the roof manually and hoping that once all the sensors are closed and fully reset in the down position, the system will reset and work. However the dash still shows "Hood Latch Open".Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Whoever changed the battery may have failed to install the luggage divider correctly. Check that out before doing anything else.

the luggage cover seems to be well positioned. Also i dont have that message " LUGGAGE COVER OUT OF POSITION". The only message is 'HOOD NOT LATCHED".

You said earlier that the windows ‘were fine’, but I suggest you rerun the window reset sequence anyway. The top won’t work if it’s waiting for the reset procedure to be run.

thankfully, I did a reset of the roof by folding it in manually and now all works fine. Thanks for your comments!

It's in the User Manual, step by step.
