No wonder there are so many “driver distracted” oriented mishaps on the road…. you can spend so much time playing with insignificant options and views as opposed to watching the road.

(the very reason I turned down the thought of getting a new E65 Wagon AMG. The ridiculous dashboard is for kids and gamers.)

 

Its really not that hard.

Main issue is longevity and warranty. They are not cheap and with aliexpress you have zero return options.

Also to the other posters, this system is much safer, because you can use voice control. The standard infotainment is so slower and cumbersome that it will distract you for longer.

The thing I would absolutely REQUIRE is complete and total OEM screen accessible items. All the way, the most minuscule settings included. The Ali ones sometimes have heated and cooled seats, some have heated steering, do they also have Valet mode? Folding mirror options? Global open/close? The ability to clear the Center Instrument Screen warnings???

 

You will never get that. These screens are a trade off. Also Valet mode, why is that a must?

Folding mirrors etc isn't controlled via infotainment, neither global open close. Or atleast not ONLY through the infotainment.

Android Auto/Apple Carplay is worth way more then any of these functions.
There might be an S Type specific screen, just search Tesla screen S Type on AliExpress.

All the settings I stated are modified using the OEM screen. Without that, nothing is changeable. The CLEAR DASH WARNING is and ABSOLUTE must-have. Who would want a big ole bright yellow Warning Symbol on their dash forever??? Can't access anything else while it's there either.
Well, dangit, I really hoped this would be one thing I'd buy.

 

You can simply remove those with odb reader, so I dont see the issue.

 

Yes, that's SO much more convenient than pressing a triangle on the TDS then touching "OKAY".
Stop, park, shut down engine, get code reader, plug device into OBD2, turn ignition on, scan codes, "RESET CODES"... but wait a minute... I don't WANT to reset codes, I just want the BRIGHT YELLOW WARNING gone.... I have to do an emissions test next week, that'll mess up ALL the Emissions Self-Tests and the test will FAIL!!! So, disconnect OBD2 device, restart car, pull back into traffic and STARE at that warning until a week has passed and the emissions test has been completed.
No thanks. That's just dumb.

Why are the OEM configs not included? I'm sure it's just a wee bit of code.
