JLR Mongoose

I had the same problem of the seat back not coming forward.
My Indy simply held his finger on the 'forward' button for 10 seconds and it righted itself.
He diagnosed ot was due to an FB (NOT FaceBook) reclining the seat too far so that the motor was strained and shut down.
No such issues since since I don't let FB's in my car (read as those with a BMI of over 25%).. I will hypothesise that this means that most Jaguar owners shouldn't drive.
Am prepared for the dislikes...so flame (or indeed sumo) suit firmly on

Since I don't know what you have, just a Mongoose cable can't do anything by itself. The entire JLR SDD program on a computer is required.
I'm not being a jerk here, I just don't want any misconceptions on what a person may purchase.
Besides, I'd recommend a DA Dongle instead of a Mongoose; Cheaper, smaller and still recommended by JLR.

Being as that a real Mongoose cable (Not mAngoose) costs about $450 USD and the real JLR SDD program costs like $700 USD and requires a subscription to Topix, those mAngoose cables have been known to brick an entire car electronics and the bootleg software can cause massive problems, I'd not get that $38 thing if my life depended on it.

I managed to purchase a genuine Mongoose cable on sale. A cheap but fast laptop $75 and JLR SDD software for well under $100. No Topix subscription.
Has worked extremely well on my 2013 Range Rover and my 2005 Jaguar XJR.
Re flashed my TCM on the Jag and set up towing hitch on the Range Rover. Which has saved me HUGE bucks.
However the battery maintainer was expensive. They sometimes go on sale but I could not find one when I needed it so paid full price for it which was more than all the other stuff combined.

Laptop I already had, zero dollars
DA Dongle was like $126 but have risen since.
Software was a gift from a very nice person
40 Amp power is from a Schumaker battery charger, was about $150.
So, yes, it was not cheap to get going, but also wasn't a horrible thing. $275 and I'm off to the races.

I bought one and have used it probably 50 times to do all sorts of good stuff. Only had trouble once when the program crashed but it didnt harm anything

I did get my setup fairly cheaply also, my above reference was the "Correct" way to do it.

Straight from their website, it was the cheapest at the time. The price has since gone up quite a bit;
