Talking Just bought my first car..2008 XKR Coupe

I had to buy this car without even test driving it because it was so hard to find a black Coupe in Canada.

Questions for XKR owners:
1. How do you maintain your car so that it stays in top quality condition?
2. What problems with the car should I expect in the future and how do I avoid them?
3. What are some general tips/advice you could give me that you wished you knew when you first bought the car?

Thanks!

Too new myself to do much but say:

Congrats, and welcome!

Starting to just see enough of these cars in the Pacific Northwest that it may be time to start planning a gathering come summer time!

Default Really? XKR as a first car?

Do you really mean this is your first ever car? If so then wow. You're very lucky to start out with such a nice one! Most of us have to be content with starting out with a clapped out old rust bucket for a few years or more.

My advice is drive carefully, especially as your new car is basically a road monster with serious speed potential relative to anything most drivers learn in.

New drivers always have at least one accident in the first year or two, thats part of how you learn to be a better driver. In some ways, driving a trashy car as a first car for a while first might have been a better option as it doesn't hurt your soul and wallet so much when you inevitably ding it.

Well actually - I wouldn't classify it as my first car. It's the first car I've bought with my own money - that is what I meant. I used to drive a Mazda 3 for a while.

IMHO the best thing you can do for that car is to park it under cover day and night. Sunlight is not your friend.

Congrats; 2nd thing to do is check out the battery (front end of trunk) or better yet buy a new one & keep it fully charged at all times.
I too bought my 2007 XK Coupe over the internet from Jaguar of Nashville (saw pictures though) and had it shipped last year to Seattle area. Scarey but turned out just fine; it's truly a gorgeous Coupe in Radiant/Red. Won our local Jaguar Club Concourse last year 99.84 pts.
It's not my first Jaguar, however, started with a XK 140 Coupe in 1959..........................the 2007 XK is the best Jag ever for me, other than my E Types in their days.

All the best, a wonderful machine

Be careful washing it as that's where the fine scratches come from. Read up on proper washing techniques and invest in the right sponges, mits, buckets, etc... Try to park covered and don't take off the traction control!
