Default Is it just me?

I drive the XKR to work about 1-2 times a week. Every time I do, somebody has something to say about it. Whether its a thumbs up from a random dude at a stop light, a cop riding my butt for ever then pulling up next to me at a red light to say "nice car", or some wierdo at a gas station asking me what kind of car it is and how great it sounds. Happens all the time.

Ive actually caught multiple people taking pictures of it at random times too.

Happens to me all the time. I think the car is striking enough to be noticed and yet not as blatant as a Lamborghini or Ferrari. Maybe folks are less intimidated and don't hesitate as much to complement the car. Lots of fun talking to strangers about the car. Always positive comments.

I was at a stop light a few weeks back and the driver of a car behind me was taking pictures of the car. Today at the Lime Rock Park car show people were taking pictures of it when I was parked on the track with other great cars.

Be proud. You own a rare car that many people can't afford. The beauty of the Jaguar XKR is very special.

I have seen many people twisting their heads to look at my Jag. Hardly anyone ever knows what it is.

Enjoy the ride.

Same here. Some folks know what it is, some don't, but many appreciate its beauty and elegance of proportion. What surprises me is the range of folks who comment, yesterday it was a guy in a big farm truck, the day before, some kids on bicycles taking video. Jaguar sure got the lines right on this car.

Get my picture took all the time. Not a good car for somebody in a witness protection program.

Even here in Southern California, nary a week goes by without a question and/or a comment. Too bad its been discontinued; on the other hand that will make our rides stand out even more.

The XK is a substantial looking car compared to most cars on the road. It has the wow factor. Live with it and enjoy it... I use to let jealous hateful people bother me when they looked upon me driving it like I owe them something. Now I ignore those losers and acknowledge the people that appreciate the car. Enjoy what you achieved, you deserve it.

It's not just you... My car is a daily drive right now, and not a day goes by that I don't at the very least get a head turn. Usually it's a thumbs up.

I like to park way far away from everyone at stores, and when I go back to my car, there is almost always someone parked near me. I just smile, because I know they just wanted a closer look at it I have even had women wait by my car and leave quickly in a huff when they realized that the car belonged to a female.

So, how many of you approach your own car in the parking lot, and think; wow what a beautiful car? I do that all the time, lol

I was walking back to my car with my wife in an outdoor lot today when I noticed a group of 8 boys on bikes aged 8 to 12 arguing about something amongst themselves a few rows over. I thought nothing of it as they continued their loud shouting and I fired up the car and lowered the roof. They suddenly stop arguing and look over to see where the engine sound came from. I pull out slowly and then blip the throttle a bit for fun. Suddenly all smiles and 'Nice Car!' Shouts. It turns out our Jaguars can contribute to World Peace.

i drive away with my wife quietly and coolly and she usually tries to discourage me but had to admit that it was pretty cool to see all those kids change their demeanour for the better at the mere sight and sound of the car driving by.

To add to this, 5 minutes earlier a woman approached us when we pulled in and said 'such an attractive car and attractive people in it!' My wife thanked her profusely and got a real kick out of that. (The attractive part is all her.)

It gets a lot of attention. I got pulled over locally for a failure to make a left turn and the Sheriff said he had to stop me since it was a nice car, no ticket
The other weekend I parked out side a local store in a part of town where nice cars are not unusual when I came out my girlfriend was who stayed in the car said a lady came up and said it was the sexiest car she'd ever seen!

Well, let me first say, "I am not an egotistical kind of guy....I'm too sure footed....
However, boy do I feel special when I'm touring around the hood in my XK.............Oh, what a feeling!

I've now owned my 2010 XKR coupe for over a year and I am starting to get almost daily compliments. In my 2002 XKR coupe I got used to receiving comments on almost an hourly basis, but not as much in the coupe. However, over the last couple of weeks I've probably gotten two dozen compliments including one at the gas station today from a man driving a Mercedes sedan that couldn't get enough of staring at it and commenting that I must get a lot of female companionship from this car.

I got a lot more comments on my previous 99 XK8 than my current XK. I wonder if the X150/X175 might be too intimidating for some. However, since my wife started driving it on a daily basis she has told me she cannot hide anywhere.

There is no doubt that the XKR draws attention to anyone interested in cars. It is fun to stand back for a few minutes and listen to the positive comments without letting people know you are the owner. Most people have never seen an XKR and think it is a new car and cost the same as a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Since I'm pretty proud of this car, it doesn't take long for me to jump in and brag about the 2008 XKR Portfolio convertible and its uniqueness.

I enjoy parking the Jag at the curb on the weekends and finding a seat nearby to voyeuristcally listen to people's comments. A strange pleasure - I grant you. The interesting one was a dad with a young son (who loved the car) explaining that "while yes it is beautiful.... Jaguars are terrible cars that breakdown all the time."

Hmmm. Maybe I don't like this voyeur thing after all.

Default "Beauty and the Beast"...??

Hi,
Well, I suspect your dad and I, as well as many others here, remember the days when the "Prince of Darkness" ruled the land of Jaguar. I find it interesting, that once again, a new 'Prince" has emerged and is playing havoc with our XK lineup. For all of her beauty and popularity, there still lurks a sinister side.........

Same here. However given the fact that Northern NJ already has a high bling factor I don't get nearly the number of compliments/stares that XKR owners get in other parts of the country.

Funny, I approach my XK wondering if it will start?
