No Updates, just Excuses!!!

I've done very, very little in the past two weeks and it's not even my fault. I have been in my jammies those days though.
I had a kidney stone manifest on 5 August that laid me up for a couple days, and that CT showed I also have pancreatitis. Yay.
I hadn't been able to pass the stone as of yesterday so I needed a Ureteroscopy and had it yanked out through, well, you know where. I guess it was blocked because there was a backup and everything festered in my kidney for those 11 days. With the stone out, the surgeon had to put a stent from kidney to bladder. That comes out in a couple more days through, well, you know where. So now I pee blood through open wounds. Good thing I have narcotics.
Another post-procedure CT and I have FIVE MORE stones inside that same kidney, two of those larger than the one that was forcefully yanked out through my wee-wee. What FUN! The surgeon will attempt to blast those apart in a week or so.
No word on the pancreatitis yet, that appointment is in a few days.

BUT, other than my urinary problems, I DO feel a lot better now, so maybe I can resume slow-leaking on this car and do at least something beneficial.

Looking at everything I have, how it is, what you guys have said and my own experiences, I really do believe the shop that tore this apart did so specifically to force my son to purchase a reman engine and have them do the work. Seriously, WHAT KIND of reputable shop takes off the supercharger to inspect for a Cat Performance Below Threshold code? Ignorance, or FRAUD??? Both?

Ouch. Can't add a like to your post Cee Jay - don't seem right to do that. I hope they get you sorted out soon.

Maybe the auto shop was clueless. There's a lot of it about.

In my experience, most of them are pretty clueless. I only once took my XK8 to a main Jaguar dealer because the job needed a special tool. I spoke to the Service Manager and explained in detail exactly what I wanted them to do and also stated that if they encountered any problems they should call me and I would go in. All credit to them, later that day he called me to say that had a problem and were worried that if they continued they would break a major component so I called in next morning and explained what they needed to do. He called me later that day to say it had worked and they had been able to finish the job.

Having suffered multiple kidney stones, with a ureteroscopy for the last one, I feel for you. Hope you feel better soon.

Not my first stone either, but the previous one was slightly less painful and passed within a few days.

Oh man. Best wishes on up coming stuff, mine hurts just thinking about it. At least the car doesn’t get worse while unattended.

Cars and health adversity aren't a great match. 37 years with RA almost has me to the point of calling a lot of tasks off. An hour under my daughter's car last night just about did my knee in. Bodywork and wrenching kill the wrists. Sigh...
it sounds like you're on the mend though which is a great thing! keep us updated.

Hope you get feeling better soon, Cee Jay.
I’m struggling with arthritis in my back right now so also putting off car tasks I want to tackle. Not sure I’ll be able to crawl back out from under the car😎

Medical Update: The Stent came out yesterday... that was NOT fun. I'm glad my kidney won't rupture now however. Still working on the pancreas stuff. Other K-stones get blasted late next week.

XKR Update:
I've been slow-leaking still, as I'm still far from 100%, but I get bored.
Most of the top end is installed, actually all of it looking now. Forgive the worm clamps, it's what was available. The intake tubes still need installed and I have a broken vacuum line/s (no way!). I know where they go, but not which. Since a vacuum is a vacuum, I assume it doesn't matter since there's one T involved in both and one termination at location #1. I'll include a quick diagram. I took a half-hearted perusing to search for myself, but I still get the cold-clammies and the hot-sweaties so lying down is nice.
If anyone knows off-hand which line goes where, give me a holler. I'll figure it out otherwise.
Here's how it sits right now...

There is a gizmo of some sort in the first pic. The other end of the pipe goes to another gizmo with three wires going into it - funny thing is before I had the valley hoses done I could not see that 3 wire gizmo very well.

SO, it would appear that the terminated end I have at position #1 was temporarily relocated to the heat exchanger hose and I need to move it to the centerline instead. That makes that part easier. The other one with the three wire thing I also have, but which goes where? Either, I'd assume. I've not pulled vacuum on that TEE part, but I still assume it's a uni-flow connection.
I should also move that wire harness to below the coolant line, where it appears it should be.
Thanks, McJag.

OK for the sake of summary to date. the car had restricted performance. You had the car brought to you with many engine parts in boxes (good dad). You're nearing completion of reassembly but interrupted by a health scare. During assembly, you found only normal wear, nothing of note. The Cats are suspect but you need to get her running first and from the looks of it, you're close to to completing reassembly.

Am I up to speed and did I get that right? It's a long thread and I'm enjoying the read but we're now on page 4 so I don't want to re-read. Also, hope you're quickly on the mend CeeJay.

The Tee part is as you call it is uni-flow Cee Jay. When the old plastic tubing fell apart I used some clear pvc tubing to repair using a brass tee. If the wire harness looks "comfortable" where it is I don't see the need to move if.

That's about it. The shop that tore it apart also gave a code of "Cat Efficiency Below Threshold" as the main fault, so WHY would they have torn off the intake??? Anyway....
Fix the broken vacuum line, install the intake tubes and a few connectors and it's back in one piece. What I really NEED (built this shop for) is a two-post lift, which would vastly ease the process of checking the cats. Having a lift installed for me is like $2500 more than the cost of one from Home Depot delivered onto my trailer. SO, once I have the chance I will order one then get my neighbors to assist in the off-loading and install. That totals maybe two weeks, including shipping.
Rock Auto has both cats for like $350 each, so that isn't a horrible thing. I do want to scope them first though just to see. Of course I can check them out easily after the removal which would be 'easier'. From that point I can decide whether or not to replace all four Oxygen Sensors.

Cee Jay - sorry to hear you've been under the weather. Sounds like both you and your son's car are on the road to recovery. Kidney stones are no fun. Take care of yourself first, then the XK.

This stupid Purge Valve connector isn't right, or probably the valve itself is wrong. I zip-tied it in place.

There isn't a bracket to attach to the intercooler on the right side, so this..... thing here is not mounted. Beats me where the bracket is, may never have been there for years. Zip Ties Again!

Guess what this means.........................!
Nope, not quite. I have to refill the coolant and change the oil before this thing gets power. Oh, and a battery cuz Totally Dead. Plus I haven't looked at the Cats yet cuz Still No Lift.

Yep, K&N filters. I will remove, clean and lightly oil after I (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA) get a lift installed.

Therefore, I guess I have a hiatus to deal with. This thing is filthy. Hopefully it will deserve a good wash in a month or so.

I forgot to add.....
ZERO left over bolts, and ZERO missing hardware! Everything was so haphazardly strewn-about I never thought that would happen.

I was just out snapping some pics - that block was somewhere around the throttle body - I couldn't actually see it. I just poked the camera lens in there with the flash on:

Close up of that plug an socket near the oil filler:
