I ended up getting the dash totally recovered for about $800 so it looks nice and new. They guys who did it down here did a good job.
If you are in the Texas RGV area I recommend Palmas Upholstery.
The regrettable part is my father's recent bout with cancer and subsequent surgery has led to me looking to sell the car as he has real trouble getting in it and riding in it.
I do want to thank everyone here who has been so helpful to me in solving the various issues I've had while I had the car. I'm gonna miss it but gotta do what is right for family.
So sorry for your situation and wish your father the best. If you can financially hang onto the car and supplement with another better suited for transporting your father, you can enjoy the Jag again when times get better.
Here's the sunshade. It's a Jaguar accessory that's a sturdy, folding, perfect custom fit - top to bottom and side to side, with no gaps. It's expensive but worth it. I added the Leaper logo. Note that it fits snug against the base of the windshield, in front of the dashboard, so the leather is not exposed. No, I don't use it when parked in my garage - I just took the photo there.
GREAT sunshade, can you please share source and how you add the leaper logo !!!
That sunshade a genuine Jaguar XK accessory that I bought online from a Jaguar dealer more than 5 years ago. Unfortunately, it appears that it is no longer available, but you can try to find one. A dealer might still have one in stock. Those sunshades are still available for current Jaguar models.
