I'm a bit out of sorts. I bought my beautiful 20k mile 2011 XKR Coupe hoping to get my wife involved with my love of performance cars. She required an automatic. Since she's a London girl I thought a Jag would fill the bill. Plus, I've always loved the way they look. She drove the car twice. The second time, she was pulled over for 75 in a 45 mph zone. Somehow, she talked her way into a warning. But she has refused to drive the car since. "It's too bloody fast and I'm afraid to park it anywhere". I have what will be a limited number of years where I can comfortably drive a manual car. That's what I'm yearning for. If she's not going to share in the driving experience, there is not as much incentive to keep the car. I can buy another when I'm older and need an automatic. I would prefer that it go to someone here who will appreciate and love the car. I'd rather not let it go to a dealer on BaT who will just flip it. I've watched the listings here and they just don't seem to move or turn over. Am I stuck with BaT? Any thoughts? I feel like a traitor, but life is short and I want what I want.

The first thing I suggest you do is get a realistic wholesale value for your 2011 XKR Coupe. Value depends on location, among other things. Hopefully, there's a CarMax store near you. Of course, low mileage (20k) adds value.
Take your XKR to CarMax and they will inspect it and give you a written offer to buy it for free, if they're interested. No need to pay anyone for an appraisal.
If I was selling my XKR, I wouldn't hesitate to list it for sale in the Forum Marketplace. There are more X150 fans here than anywhere else.
It takes quite a bit of time and effort to get it listed and sell it yourself on BaT, and it's not free. An alternative is to consult a dealer experienced in selling on BaT and see if they're interested in either buying your XKR or selling it on consignment.

I appreciate your thoughts. It's not an emergency and I can store it for the winter, but I like the idea of testing the market with CarMax. I don't know if the market will be any stronger next year. I'm thinking someone would like to have the car for the remainder of the summer, so I'll investigate BaT (where I bought it) and C&B as well ("it's free").

Re BaT: If you get your price, do you really care if it's a dealer or a private individual who buys it? List it with a reserve if that's your concern. A dealer isn't going to go much beyond wholesale anyway, and end users on BaT seem to pay strong money (i.e. overpay) for nice cars. My personal opinion is BaT is a pain to use and they seem to want 200 photos, with 8 different angles of the same thing. But I second the suggestion to try Autotrader or one of the other online marketplaces.
I agree with Cee Jay. Autotrader, Cargurus, this forum or possibly Cars and Bids. I like to follow the auctions on BAT, but they seem to trend toward perfect cars. And some of the questions and comments..............
CARMAX will quote you wholesale. More like CARMIN. Hardly worth the trip.
Carmax bases their pricing off of lowest auction price which's typically LESS than book value. I've experimented with them multiple times and my experience's been consistent. I used to have a Manheim account (dealer black book & auctions) and CarMax's pricing always matched theirs.
BAT has also been quite consistent with price and sales and has proven to been one of the most popular places for private sales, so my vote's for them.
Carmax generally pays nada for our cars. BAT is a gamble but takes time and a good amount of effort. I’d try other options such as AutoTrader, CarGurus etc and see what happens. You have nothing to lose. Our cars are not hot commodities and usually take time to sell. Good luck whatever you decide. Let us know how you make out.
Jaguar is a niche car. CarMax, dealers, etc generally have no interest or offers are very low. Has anyone sold a car thru Autotrader or Car Gurus? BAT is a PIA but does bring buyers who are interested in our cars. X150 (especially the R) seems to do pretty well. I would not list w/ a reserve otherwise you have to accept the highest offer. Craig's may/may not help. I am going to look at a 2013 XKR in SF tmrw. 33k miles, ask is 36. Found on Craig's. I know this is a discussion about X150 but did see a very nice 06 XK8 sell on Craig's after 6 weeks. 17 ask.
On my 06, local Jag dealer wants to take a look. Not as a trade in but possible broker to a collector. I am going to touch base w the local Jag club too.
What are you looking to the replace the Jag XKR with?
If you can trade it in for not too much a hair cut, I'd do that.
If you are set on selling it yourself. I would post it here, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and any car forums you are a member of. Give the free ad's a go first. Based on the response or lack of will determine your next move.

Highlight mine. Obviously "w/" is a typo. What you wrote is not what you meant. Selling at auction with a reserve means no sale unless that reserve price is met. You meant w/o.

A 16 year old car with 9900 miles? The date codes are really tough to see on the tires, but color me skeptical. I'd expect to see some real substance about how any car sits around at 600 miles per year. Show a few pics for the 14 years in it's lovely climate controlled garage...

OK Cee Jay....You got my attention! I have managed to move my odometer to read 16,000 miles on my 2010 after about 11 years of ownership. I purchased the car with 4,800 miles, so that's about 1,000 miles per year. I will admit that I finally changed my original factory Dunlops last year with a fresh set of Michelin 4S's You've got to love those low mileage cars! lol
Forget sharing the experience, keep the Jag XKR - They are extremely quick you need to be a certain type of character to drive them - they wont be every around again...your wife..?
