little history on XKR
Happened upon this while reading about the upcoming Bond Car Film show in England. In the movie Die Another Day 2002, Bond is in his Austin DB and is being raced after by the villain Zao, who drives?.....a 1998 XKR modified 2 seater, green with all kings of guns, rockets etc. the vehicle is something to see. Sorry I could not post the link but if one googles jaguar in die another day it can be found with good photos. Now we could say when asked about our XK's, oh yes like the one in the Bond movie! Just a thought.

Well, there were 8 'XKRs' used in Die Another Day - 4 were Jaguar XK8/XKRs, 4 were Explorer 4x4s (for the ice chase scenes). The claim that one of the latter had the 'Mustang 302' in it, seems a bit suspect - the 302 Windsor was an option for the Explorer, but Ford stopped using it in the 'Stang in 1996 and in the Explorer in MY2002. In both cases it was replaced by the 4.6 Modular V8. Maybe they put the DOHC 'Stang version in rather than the rather placid SOHC Explorer version.

Your thoughts are correct but your dates need a bit of help. This comes from a former 99 SVT Cobra owner (4.6l DOHC motor)
From 1994 on , the Mustang had a SOHC 4.6 l motor. The 5.8 Windsor was a 1995 Cobra R motor. No Explorer had that motor. No Explorer or Mountaineer had the 4.6 l SOHC motor. Only the Lincoln Aviator had a retuned 4.6L DOHC motor and it was an incredible gas pig as it was always running well above its "economical" zone torquing around an overweight Lincoln. The SOHC motor had good HP but lousy toque in stock trim. It responded quite well to an SC. The DOHC was one of the BEST sounding motors ever built but it was the highlight of the last round of Fox bodied cars. Jack Nassar had completely stripped any semblance of quality out of these cars thus reason I sold it. My 2004 STi ran circles around it with a simple Cobb Stage 2 tune v the 10K I had dropped into the Cobra that still couldn't handle its way out of a cardboard box.

it is a Jaguar, SAJDA42POYP00598, all the 8 vehicles used in the movie where Jag cars, 4 modified for 4x4 for the ice chase. A Ford 302 v8 was used and set back to make room for the Explorer front end. The 302 was used because it was smaller than the Jag engine so it could be set back. The vehicle number above was sold back in Oct 2013 as a bill of sale only. If one googles up the cars used in the die another day there are various pics that are pretty good. All entertainment but still a Jag and driven by a villain. Sounds like a new ad.
