Looked at the F-Type
Yesterday we had the opportunity to look at the F-Type . Cool looking car and although bigger then I thought it was also smaller . Looks like a nice 2 seater which would be a lot of fun to drive. Compact inside but roomy enough for my 6'3" frame. Maybe a little tight on my head room but livable. We saw the "mid" model with the upgraded V6. Price came in at $94K. Although my bride liked it the downside was lack of space. As I mentioned before I'm looking for a change from my old Ferrari and one of the needs is the room for 2 sets of golf clubs . It may be a lame excuse but it's a deal breaker. As I look at the XK although there may not be trunk room I can get a second set of clubs in the rear seat/storage area. So my hunt will start as soon as I sell the Fcar.

It's a little tight but with seat back and tilted and an extension on the steering wheel it's OK. My max drive time is around 4 hrs before body parts start to stiffen up. LOL. The only tough part is getting out but getting in is not a problem. You also have to know I'm a fairly old guy (years on medicare) so I need a little more cushier ride. LOL.

You could get one set of clubs in the trunk and one in the back seat area in an XK convertible.
With regards to comfortable ride - The F-type will be more harsh than the 308.

It is not the most spacious trunk since the top is fully concealed when down but I keep a couple folding lawn chairs, a small humidor, a small fold up mini bar, two overnight bags for the misses and I as well as room to squeeze in our hanging clothes on top. It's tight but enough for a few day trip to the mountains.
I always keep chairs, cigars and scotch in my play car You never know when you'll be at a meet, in the mountains or at a beach and want to relax a little.

My wife and I go away for 2 or 3 days with 2 overnight bags and everything else you'd need like extra shoes and jackets, and once I was also doing a track event and even packed my helmet and driving shoes...all in the trunk, with trunk divider in place and roof down! Didn't even need to use the back seat for anything but the camera, and it's nice touring around that way with cargo out of sight. On the way back we stopped at the grocery store and did a major shopping. That filled the back seat to the brim and looked rather funny with the top still folded down!
It's surprising how much you can fit in the vert's trunk with a bit of planning.

Hi Jagtoes,
In the first series XK, you can get four sets of golf clubs if you squeeze them in, the trunk is cavernous. No modern day convertible will offer that type of trunk space because of the storage of the convertible mechanism and its cover in the trunk. This was a key issue in my purchase as my closest friend of over 50 years and I go golfing at different locations every weekend of the year (in SoCal we're lucky to have weather to support our habit). Even my old sports car, 1972 De Tomaso Pantera, has a big enough trunk above the engine to carry a couple of sets of clubs, and we've done that as well. Consider a 2005-2006 XKR convertible, and your problems are solved.

Ok, I have two solutions to your dilemma.
A) Get an X100 XK, much cheaper, bigger trunk and a cushier ride.
B) Get the F-type, ditch golf, buy two judo gi, and start practicing judo. Even at your age, your body will thank you, although, you may feel sore for the first few weeks. Go at it slowly and avoid uchikomis and randoris until you feel your body can handle it.
