Default Looking for 2008 body parts

Ok, here's the story....I found a silver 2008 XKR, it looks like it blew a RRear, went for a skid and took out the quarter panel and splintered the rear clip (no airbag deployment). I haven't seen the car yet to determine if the inner well needs replacement (probably does). I should see the car in the next day or so, its at a recovery dealer. Before I make an offer, pricing for parts is obviously important. Roughly from old body experience (its been awhile), it appears to be around $3-4500 in parts and repairs depending on that quarter and inner well.


First I want to find quality parts, none of this Chinese stuff for the quarter.


Next, does anyone know if the sporty body kits include a new rear clip? If so I would seriously consider getting a kit to dress it, since its gonna get some new paint anyways. But if not, I guess finding a rear clip would be on the shopping list.


Since it has the spare on it and I don't see the sport rim, a source for rims would also be of apparent need. Again, I'll see the car in a couple days to determine this.


I have done a bit of searching for 2008 XK's, but there aren't a lot for sale, nor have I found another wrecked one in any condition.


FYI, I'm in the Orlando FL area, but distance isn't a concern in the US.
I would appreciate any assistance y'all can offer.

Looks like the rear right wheel took quite a hit. I'd be concerned that there may be some damage to the tranny and/or suspension components. The sheet metal might be the least of your worries.

remember these 07-14 Jags are all aluminum. That requires special training for any kind of body or framework.

Oh ok, that's an fyi I was unaware of. I've done some aluminium work before and know how touchy that work is when doing detail stuff. That definately ads to the cost and finding a capable shop.

I have a friend of mine who has a local body shop. He just got his 1st aluminum body car being a 2013 Audi V8 that hit a deer. I talked and watch as his body guy did the work and it was not much different then sheet metal other then it was thinner . Had to use Audi parts and there was not welding so it was straight forward labor. The fix was replace front bumper skin , front fender , driver door , head light assembly , inner fender including brackets , etc so you know the rest. Painting was not an issue. Car looked as good as new when done. I didn't hear the price but it was up there considering it was a $90K car. So if you are replacing parts it should be straight forward but if you are fixing/welding parts it is more difficult. Also a lot of the new stuff is glued or rivets and not welding. Body filler sticks to alum. just as well as steel.

None of the XK models have fancy rear sheet metal - the body kits are all plastic bolt-ons. Some models had optional Alcon brakes, and different wheels to clear them, but you'll be able to check that on the other side. As ndy.boyd said, I'd be concerned about damage to the rear suspension, axle & diff.

Regarding the alloy bodywork: there are many pages in the workshop manual on the bonding, gluing and riveting techniques needed to repair the XK's bodywork. There is only one weld in the whole structure. I think you'll need to be sure that the body shop you choose has had plenty of experience with modern alloy cars in general and Jags in particular.

CAr-Parts.com for used stuff. Looks like a quater and rear bumper for sure. I've had good luck on there finding good used parts. It's actually tied into most all used salvage yards across the states.
