Looking for someone in the Dallas area to check a 08 XK - RESOLVED
New to the forum. I’m interested in a 2008 XK coupe that’s for sale at Texas Cars Direct.
2718 Forest Lane Dallas 75234.
I would like someone who is familiar with XK’s to look it over, listen to it, check for leaks, check all power features, windows, seats, heat, A/C, etc. and let me know their opinion.I’m located in Las Vegas and considering purchasing it without looking at it. I would have it shipped here.
I would be happy to pay for your time!
Thank you
Brian

Brian,
You would be better off to give Texas Cars Direct a refundable deposit contingent on their allowing you to have a nearby Dallas Jaguar dealer do a Pre-Purchase Inspection at your expense. That PPI must be done to the Jaguar Select Certified Pre-Owned Warranty standards as documented by that checklist. It'll note what repairs are needed together with the cost of parts and labor. Cost is probably around $250, but you should be able to recover it and maybe more depending on what's needed and your negotiating skills. If you're interested in knowing if it was in an accident or had any paint work done, a similar PPI can be had from a body shop that is approved to do aluminum repairs.
If TCD says you don't need a PPI, run - don't walk - away!
Good luck!
Stuart

Thank you Stuart for taking the time to reply.
I will look into that approach tomorrow.

Welcome to the forums Brian,
I was going to attach the CPO 165-Point Checklist PDF but as a newbie, you wouldn't be able to download it. Here is is as JPG's instead:
Even if a vehicle does not qualify for the CPO scheme, it's still a useful comprehensive condition checklist to use for assessment.

I spoke with Russell at JAG-MAC, before I could finish reading the VIN # he rattled off the owners name. He has done the maintenance on this XK as well as the gentleman’s other Jags. The previous owner is a retired dean at SMU. Russell says he’s very meticulous! The previous owner just had Russell do what ever the car needed taken care of prior to trading it in. Russell says that’s the type of guy he is. He is very familiar with the car and says it needs nothing and I can’t go wrong with it.
Will see, as I put a deposit on it.

Dallas / Frisco Jag Dealer
A bit of a beef. Frisco (and Dallas) won't service my 2008 XJ8L. They say that because it is over 10 years old. They recommend I drive to the Grapevine Jaguar dealer for service (much further away - I live 30 miles north of Dallas). I've bought parts from them in the past, my wife bought a new Rover from them, and they sponsor the Dallas area Jag Club (I also have a '69 E-Type). Oh, and in the past, they serviced our 2006 XJ8L and our 2004 S-Type. I now do my Jag business elsewhere. Not bad people; just a bad policy.

Now, post some pics of your new car!
