Cool Loose left side mirror

Is there a fix for a mirror that is loose in its last half inch of travel? I have to push it with my finger to go to the fully extended position. Anybody?

You don't indicate whether you have Powerfold or non Powerfold option exterior mirrors. However, the mirror housings on both types are designed to pivot against the vehicle upon impact to minimise risk of breakage.

If door mirrors have been folded against the vehicle due to an impact, the non Powerfold mirror should be repositioned manually until it can be heard to click onto the locating peg. To re-engage the mechanism on a Powerfold mirror, power the mirror to the foldback position then back out to the drive position using the door switch button. If the mirror head does not locate positively, some manual movement may be required to re-engage the mirror head onto the motor drive peg.

Hi Graham,
Yes mine are Powerfold (Didn't realise there were 2 types) I've disabled this now in the settings, the one in question doesn't doesn't always retract all the way I have to lend a helping hand!
I tried to lubricate best way I can from behind the mirror glass with copious amounts of WD40, this temporary helped but after a while the problem reoccurred.

Mike,

It could just be off the drive peg but also possible the motor is failing.

One of our X308 owning members decided to get to grips with this issue and posted a superb thread on rebuilding his Powerfold mirror:

It makes excellent reading but I think I'd be looking for a used one!
