Default Midnight Black vs Rhodium Silver

Unsure what has gotten into me lately but as an owner of a midnight black xk I think I would be hard pressed to vote against the Rhodium Silver atm ....looks very elegant

A bit bias here but it's black for me, especially on a perfect sunny day it does look amazing.

Think what's getting to me is I've found it impossible to keep my xk clean lately due to all the construction dust in the air where I park it in the morning

I've had silver cars previously and regardless if they are dirty or not they still look clean not like black !!

I like to see a newly cleaned Black car but I won't buy one. The only colors I won't buy is black , silver , gray and white. I just see them as to bland and seem to get buried by blending into the background. Darker colors show the dirt and are a pain to keep clean and the swirl marks show easily. If you look at the top colors of choice and what the dealers have on the lots it's the 4 that I named. I like to be different with a color other then the norm. Just my 2 cents

Although I have the silver, it would not have been my first choice. While I admit that the silver doesn't look dirty too often, it's too commonplace; silver is the new white. I'd much prefer a deeper color such as navy, red, burgundy, or black.

Come on jagtoes, a black xk it bland , with body lines like that, o you're really killing me man Have never seen mine blending into the background only drawing attention and as for the swirl marks, if the car is looked after and polished properly you see no marks. I think i about to crack up Great that tomorrow's St. Patricks day i can downs my sorrows with multiple pints of Guinness. Happy st.patricks day to everyone.

I'm with Steve on this one. As the owner of a black XK convertible, it's a PITA to keep polished. My previous XK8 was a 'radiance red' and showed the dust less. Both colors are sharp when pristine, but it's a lot more work keeping the ebony model in "ooh, ahhh" condition. Unfortunately, my **** retentive nature won't have it any other way.

Welp, it looks like I'm off to wash and shine the car again today! Trust me - it could be a whole lot worse...

Both look good. I can't do silver though, personal falling out with a family member and that's the only color they drive.
That being said, while the options are more plentiful, and I love the look, trying to figure out if I want any black if I upgrade to the XKR.

Just another angle.

Black makes things look smaller, a good thing in the case of the XK, and it draws the eye in to re-look at the curves.

Silver was the better color until every friken honda, minivan and piece of junk started using it to make their cars look trendy.

Looking at the top 5 new car colors determine what the dealers will stock. The consumer picked the color and the dealers stocked what would sell. Because there are so many cars in these common colors they start becoming invisible to the average driver.

Over here in the states we have a lot of black cars. Most would be Camaro's or Doge Chargers and mustangs. Because these types are popular it seems like they are a dime a dozen. So seeing them all the time for the everyday driver they don't know the difference and they usually don't care. Because the exotics are out of reach for our youth they have turned to the ricer cars . Most of the youth don't even know what a Jaguar is and if you were to have one of the above and an XK all being black no one would tell the difference as it drove down the road at you. Same goes even if it were a black Ferrari , unless it's red no one would notice. Just part of whats going on over here.

Silver is the default colour of German cars. When you go past an Audi, BMW or Mercedes dealership you are in danger of falling asleep out of boredom. Silver does not accentuate the complex curves on a Jaguar - and those lines are what make a Jaguar so beautiful. I have owned black Jaguars and yes, they are more difficult to keep pristine but when they are in that condition there is nothing to compare - except British Racing Green, which, happily, is the colour of my XK - stunning.

As Jeremy Clarkson once said... "...imagine it in silver or black, and then imagine walking away from it and buying a BMW or Mercedes instead. I'm not sure I could."
So, how about one each, silver AND black?

I'm partial to black myself......my XKR is black as well...Very, very hard to keep clean, especially here in AX where dust is soooo commonplace. But for the hour or two after she's been washed and waxed, you can't beat it.....Jags are beautiful cars in any color, but black gives it the panache I think...or maybe just a little more panache

I walk back to my X150 and see little kids hand prints on it. I think kids still notice it. I have been *very* surprised at the attention level my XK gets. I was expecting it to blend in. Its not quiet the level of a brilliant yellow 80's Porsche, but its darn close.

Something to consider, a metallic blue. It will be similar enough to the black, if that is what you like, yet the metallic flakes will help lower the notability of dust vs a gloss finish.
