Milltek, QuickSilver, or Spires exhaust?
Hello,
I'm planning to upgrade the exhaust on my 2013 XKR-S but i'm having tough time deciding which way I want to go. I don't really want to modify the stock exhaust in case one day I decide to sell the car and need to put it back to stock. Milltek, QuickSilver, and Spires are the options I've narrowed it down to. Not really a big achievement since there's only a few other options. I like the stock sound but would just like to add a few decibels. If I go with QuickSilver, I'd probably do the Sport vs. the Super Sport as its a little quieter and I've heard some complaints of drone. Milltek only offers one option and I have no idea how it compares in real life to the others. Spires offer their "Stage 2" which looks like it might be a good option for the XKR-S as it already has the X pipe. I also like that fact that Spires offers an "Active" option as that might help with highway drone.
QuickSilver Sport exhaust: Jaguar XKR 5.0 Super Charged - Sport Exhaust (2009 on) - QuickSilver Exhaust Systems
Milltek exhaust (only option unless you add the hi-flow cats): Jaguar XKR 5.0 V8 Milltek exhaust
Spires Active exhaust: Sports Exhaust : XK 5.0 XKR Stage 2 Active exhaust
I'm sure others have been through this decision process. I did do some searches and found good bit an pieces of info. I couldn't find anything substantive on the Spires. Does anyone on here have one? Perhaps I need to search some of the UK forums...
BTW, this my weekender not a daily driver. If it was, I'd probably just leave it stock.
Anyway, any feedback or alternative solutions are welcome.
Hamish.

HMS are a tuning company, the exhaust is KKS, go to www.KKS -performance.com and you see products and details, plenty of kks xkr exhaust sounds on you tube
There is a company in the uk, who import the kks for bmw's they might get u an xkr system or details, they are www.mstyle.co.uk click kks in search box, there not cheap
Think this is the best sounding exhaust i've heard, good video on youtube,

Man id love to hear what the XK sounded like with no Cats!!! I BET IT WAS AWESOME!!! I find my XKR and XKR-S both to be too quiet compared to a ferrari, lambo, R8, or even the new Viper....ugh....esp the XKR.

Hdavidson - Have you come to a conclusion on the exhaust you had narrowed down?
Just picked up a '12 XKR with stock exhaust and find it way too tame. I want some rip-snorting and growling to go with the 510hp!!
Like you, this car is not a daily driver but my toy. I need it to sound fast!
Thanks for any info you have!

Not many people have an XK and of those people 10% mod the exhaust?? It's truly amazing that milltek and/or quicksilver aren't on here offering the finatics a deal- especially over here in the states...smh

Nope.
Two magnaflow mufflers and x pipe. X pipe worked fine, but the back pressure was so low with the mufflers, the car was an absolute dog and sounded like crap. Worst decision I made in months when I did that. Put the stock muffler back on and kept the x pipe which I did not notice much difference with.
In general, I think Jaguar has done a good job at optimizing what they have. Hats off to their engineering team.

Everyone seems to focus on the sound the the exhaust. I would be more interested in a modest horsepower gain. Mina advertises 8 hp mid and 15 hp high rpm range. This attracts me.
I would like to add this Mina exhaust and a tuning to get a little more HP. There is a place in Houston called Eurocharged that advertises 25 hp gain with there tuning.
Wondering if anyone has experienced HP gains with any of this.

In defense of Quicksilver
I purchased a Quicksilver Super Sport exhaust secondhand from a forum member earlier this year. I never did get around to swapping the resonator sections, but I did replace the muffler portion with the straight pipes.
I could not be ANY happier. Seriously. No drone at all. The sound at idle/low RPM is only slightly louder than stock, barely noticeable I'd say. When you go WOT, the sound is intoxicating without being annoying. I think it's the perfect mix of sound quality and volume. I may never install the rest of it. Obviously, I could have gotten the same result from the regular Sport setup, but as I stated, I got it secondhand for a smoking deal. Anyone looking for a replacement exhaust setup really should not overlook Quicksilver. Just my humble opinion...
