Help me out, what am I looking at? The title says Apron Upgrade but the description says Apron Splitter. The pics could not be more unhelpful, so I'm curious what the product is...
The Mina front apron is available for both 4.2L and 5.0L models. The same photo (4.2L) was used for both.
Forum member jhummer has it on his race car. It's easy to see - it's the black carbon fiber lip (apron) under the silver nose. I enlarged and cropped his photo from one of his posts. I like it, as it appears to fit around the entire front end and looks factory. Enlarge the below photo to see the CF pattern.
I'm not sure if that Mina front apron is 2 or 3 pieces, as Chris's ad isn't clear. I suspect it's just the 2 side pieces, and asked jahummer. He may have added the center section. Hopefully, he will reply here.
You're welcome. You're a newbie, so know that's what the
button on the bottom right corner of the post is for.
Maybe a newbie here, but certainly not car forums. The thumbs up is for people doing a drive-by "preciate-cha" and I'd rather give a proper "Thank you"...
If there's enough interest, maybe Chris would do a group purchase at a discounted price. Anyone else interested besides me?
I would be interested, however I do not understand why the lip/apron/thing does not line up all the way with the edge of the factory apron/lip/whatever nearest the wheel well. It looks to be about and inch or slightly more from that edge. Doesn't look quite right to me.
You can place them anywhere you'd like, they come much larger but must be trimmed to fit the underside lip as well as to adjust how far out you want them to protrude past the line of the bumper. I'm not certain what happened to mine other than when I had my friend help me, I think he trimmed the center piece too short which meant we had to pull the side piece further forward to compensate which means they no longer met the inside well edge.
It always bothered me, but not enough to order another set and start over.
One thing for all to consider, once these have been fitted, great attention must be given to parking and turning into driveway entrances/exits. The nose on these cars is already quite long (the distance from the center of the front wheel hub to the front tip of the bumper).
And now they matter little to me as I'll be removing them in favour of a proper functional adjustable splitter. Don't get too excited though as I used 3M double faced adhesive tape plus screws so likely they wont survive.
I'm having second thoughts, now that you mentioned the increased vulnerability to damage. I've been there done that with another car and don't want to do it again.
I'm very happy with my $20 lip!
It's rubber with a carbone fibre look and sticks on with double sided adhesive, I added a couple of screws to hold it in place.
Around $20 on Aliexpress!:-)
There is no samuraj written on it, just the pic has it!
I can not buy everything I want for my car for top dollar as a lot of you can so I choose this way. It looks very good and most people can't see the difference. Several people have said they like my carbon lip. :-) Don't be so negative before you have seen it in the flesh.
