I suspect swapping in springs of unknown rate and shorter length won't improve performance over what the Jaguar suspension engineers agonized over at tremendous expense, and there's no way to know if they degrade it, or by how much. Important changes to performance would likely only be noticed more as you push the car towards its limits of handling, although subjective differences even at low speed are likely. Same with spacers. I'd consider these as visual mods that won't be harmful to performance for most drivers.
If you were making suspension changes to improve performance at the limits for motorsports then you'd need more information.

I think you're unlikely to hurt the car if you use name brand springs and H&R Trax spacers made specifically for your car. I seriously doubt you will improve track performance, and if it's degraded slightly you're unlikely to know or care since your primary motivation is changing the appearance. A skilled driver drives within the limits of the car on the track, whatever the level of those limits, so changes in vehicle performance can be handled by the driver.
I've probed the limits of my XKR on the track, and adjusted my driving accordingly, progressively pushing those limits more each subsequent track day. What level those limits are is unimportant...that I know where they are is!
If you like the look that these mods make then go for it and enjoy!

Thanks for the reply Bruce H. I would like to add that I've really come to enjoy your posts. I'm a complete novice at this. I haven't even purchased my XKR yet, ( I will in the next 90 days!!!), so I'm gathering all the info I can. I really love those cars. You're most welcome. It might be worthwhile to get some feedback from those that have modified their cars, and hopefully from someone who has also tracked it with mods. My track threads describe the handling of the stock 2010 with its factory stiffened springs, roll bar, limited slip e-diff, active shock valving and DSC pulling it all together...and I think the factory nailed it for the track.
The XK175 and XKR-S use ~1/2" shorter springs and a variety of other tweaks to work along with them. How much an owner can arbitrarily drop one of these without making various other changes (like a shorter shock that's designed for optimimum performance with reduced wheel travel and different spring rate) is unknown, as is longevity of the stock shock when paired with a shorter spring.
I know owners of pre-2010 XKR's have commented on the need for stiffer springs and/or roll bars to reduce body lean, and if that's the years you are looking at it would be great to find a suspension solution as it could very well improve both street and track performance.

I'm looking at a 2010 XKR. I probably won't track in much....well, i don't know yet. Mostly, it'll be a daily driver. But with a car like that, I know I'll want to open it up on the track. So I would go for the "look", as you suggested. Its just that when I do go to the track, I wouldn't want to be hindered by the mods. I'll continue to read the posts and once I'm ready to do the actual modding, I'll pick everyone's brain and see what the best route. Thx
