Far as I know, it's "Value at time of loss".
You could get a check for the current inflated prices. Hold onto the check for however long and buy again when prices go back down. "IF" they go back down???
It also depends... How bad do you want a replacement?
You also COULD maybe throw in a couple extra bucks and go 2012+? That'd go by your personal tastes also. Me, I like the later facelift but don't like all the sticky buttons.

That is not unexpected from reading this progression of events. I am in that club also, first XK we bought was totaled in accident and I promptly turned around and bought another. Took my time finding it but not a lot of time. Can't remember my payout in relation to values at that time but recall that it was a fair number.
Sticky buttons are not that difficult so shouldn't be a factor, an hour total for all sticky areas when I did mine with WD40 (everyone has used a different cleaning solution), buttons took 20 minutes.

It appears, as the repair facility is sadly reporting, the fire I suffered in my car damaged the engine in a way that it needs to be replaced. I am guessing that is a rather expensive repair? Anyone have any insight into how much replacing a 2011 XKR motor would cost? Anyone know where I can find another XKR in really good condition, at a really good price? Yeah...I know I asked for a unicorn and a reasonably priced one at that!

Hahaha, good luck. You can't find a decent mileage 2014 for that price. But, depending on how much you owed (if you financed) you could have a very nice down payment on one. You'll be looking in the high $30s to mid-$40s for a 2014 with between 20-50k miles in that range.

It appears I will be in the market for a "new" XKR. I spoke with the repair facility and they have generated an initial estimate of over $28k. I wonder how the insurer will process this estimatae, but the facility was the one they chose. The high mileage, used motor (116,000 miles) on the estimate is $10,500 before removal and reinstall. That price may be high, but not nearly as high as whatever motor I would actually accept. Because there is NO WAY I would take a motor with nearly 50,000 more miles that I had! There is also understandable reluctance about additional repairs that would not be identifiable before many other repairs are made.
While the fire appears to have been contained, they are saying the heat caused many many plastic, rubber, and wires items to fail. Something about the heat an seals was mentioned too...
Who has the inside hookup on a 2014 XKR vert, low miles, and around whatever the insurance company will pay for mine? I'm not asking much!

or even better than a 2014,I found a 2015 around the same price and it got the black pack/dynamic R look on it and low mileage.

My two cents: take the insurance check. BUT, get a professional to negotiate on your behalf with the insurance company. They have an entire department (loss adjustment they call it in the UK - yeah, "adjusted" in their favour) dedicated to hosing you. A pro on your side will more than repay his fee. Trust me - for decades I had major insurance companies as clients and in almost all of them, more people were employed to handle 'loss adjustment' than to handle paying out claims.

Unless you've supplemental replacement value insurance, most insurance use ACV based at time of loss. It behooves the insured due diligence to make certain the ACV number the insurance quotes matches realistic "wholesale" numbers. Don't deposit their check until you're satisfied. If there's a large discrepancy, like diminished value claims, there are independent appraisers for hire who'll provide a certified report/appraisal reflecting a correct ACV. It's not unusual for insurance companies to "miss" trim levels, expensive factory options, dealer installed upgrades and some certain custom parts like wheels.

Given prices now, might also be a good idea to go to KBB.com and get a screen grab of their estimate for your car.
What’s interesting is that I’ve got a similar XKR and I looked on autotrader and suddenly the market is flooded with 2010 and 2011 xk’s. Everyone who was even considering selling theirs is jumping in with pretty “optimistic” prices. That’s gotta factor in your favor.
