Mounting tablet to dash.
#41
I have a Galaxy Note 8 which I use in my XKR by having mount that fits in the cd slot and a magnet that grips the back of the phone with a small plate attached to the phone's case. The mount with the arm is made by Spigen. For me it is completely satisfactory when used either with torquePro or Android Auto.

I see flat screens on Mercedes from the factory that look like an ipad was just glued to the dash... not integrated with the dash. I think what you have done looks fine. My only gripe with the interior of my 2012 XKR is the touchscreen looks old, dated. I would love to see some enterprising person write an interface to the jag touch system so that you could semi-permanently mount a flat tablet over the old touchscreen.

I moved my stock screen to the ashtray location and installed a new head unit. So it can be done with a days work and some hacking (which can all be reversed with new pieces). The stereo bezel needs trimmed larger, ashtray section needs removed and some of it hacked up, fiber optic cable extended, 3 wires behind the stock unit extended, speaker wires from the new head unit wired into the wires at the amp under the passenger footwell, and the YAW sensor that is under the ashtray moved forward a few inches.
Sounds like a **** ton of work, and it can be for someone that isnt a handy man, but anyone who is a handy man can do it in a days work. Just my 2cents for someone who REALLY wants to take on the project. My setup is working 100% and I couldnt be happier. 10.1" screen fully loaded with GPS, USB ports for mp3 and movies, android auto and torque pro and list goes on. I even changed the background to a nice animated Jaguar logo so its looks really modern and badass while driving down the road.

Bourdain was awesome, its sad he passed.. may he RIP... I wont let anyone smoke in my car including myself. I love cigars, hate cigarettes but I just really hate what smoke does to interior windows and everything else.

I dont smoke cigars in my car either because its still new- no kidding.
However, if Manafort wanted to smoke one last cigar on the way to Riker's Island, I would join him.
Someday however it will become cigar lounge, when my life means more than the car.
In the Rolls Royce interiors cigars actually enhanced the nose of the interior.

I've seen tablet/phone holders that have brackets that either slide under the passenger seat, or bolt on somewhere on the passenger side. They typically have an articulated arm so that you can position your screen in an orientation that works best.
Amazon has one that works with various iPads, Samsung Galaxy tablets, etc.

I agree on Audi/MB poor design integration of displays as of late. On the other side of the spectrum, I think Alfa did a fantastic job blending the display into the design of their dash on the Giulia:
