Default Mud flaps, whell well flairs, & stone guards...

So per prior posts most know my XK is in the paint shop for stone damage.
The body shop told me he thought the newer XK or XKR came with small mud flaps or other such rock guard protection around the wheel wells... My '07 has no such devices...

Was he mistaken?

Obviously with a brand new paint job I'm going to get Clearbra on some critical locations once the paint has cured (Most likely the nose and complete lower side boards.) But his comment has me curious if the is more I can do from an OEM perspective.

Thanks again,
Vince

I have not seen an XKR that did not have stone guards on the rear wheel wells - even the previous generation.

As for your paint, it shouldn't have to cure. It should be clear coated and baked on - once it is baked it is done.

The older acrylics needed time to harden - not necessary with modern paints.

Thanks rscultho,

Any chance of someone post a closeup or two of what he was talking about? (or maybe a PDF of a parts breakdown?)

I'll probably get them on order from Nalley as soon as I know what I'm asking for...

Vince

You can see here I have nothing like flaps on my car

More added.... I just went here to see no 2009 has any kind of flap either. So the question goes back to your term "stone guard"?

Also, apparently I spoke to soon on my last comment. My 2007 XKR had 19's and did not have the rock guard on the back wheel well, so apparently it is the cars that come with the 20's that have them installed.

Very interesting and thanks for posting the pics....
Are they on the front area too?

BTW Here >CLICK< is a terrible attempt to show the area of damage to my car.
The soft white is where it destroyed the clearcoat and turned it milky in color. The hard white is where it took all the paint off down to metal and plastic.
I'm sure they would have helped but for the extent f damage I received. I wonder by how much.

Sigh... Just don't want to go through this ever again...

Wonder why no one has gone after Oregon DOT for this level of damage before?

Haven't ever seen them on the front myself...you could call Nalley and ask...they would help you no problem.

Of course there are bigger after market flaps you could buy...maybe a google search might reveal this - I've never checked before.
