My kid flew in yesterday from Seattle (easy to tell by looking at him) to finalize a deal we've been working on for a couple weeks. He happily drove away from the dealer with his new 2007 XKR!
It was the least expensive one he's been able to find in six months of looking that was any decent, and it happened to be 40 miles from my house in Utah.
Here are the 'quirks and features'. *groan*
Black-on-black 2007
110,000 on the car, no blemishes except for some rock chips on the front end.
Interior nearly flawless except for some rubbing on the back side trim panels where the front seats were out of calibration and rubbed through the surface a bit (fixed seats)
A used engine (don't yell at me!) from a 2009 XKR with 56,000 miles, and 7,500 miles since install.
- All external components on the used engine have been replaced; plugs, coils, injectors, water pump, ALL coolant lines, all liquids replaced
Transmission serviced, diff serviced, all front bushes have been replaced within the last 40,000 miles
A/C colder 'n ****
Bonnet and Rear Hatch struts brand new
Zero bubbling on the dash
No signs of a clogged duckbill
"Taurus Wing" gone from grill
FEATURES:
Equipped with ACC, works great!
Don't know if 'feature' or not, but has fully functional Adaptive Headlights (I'd prefer they weren't, actually, due to cost of failure)
Car has a resonator delete already (do 2007s come with resonators? I can't remember)
New tires all around
New brakes all around
BAD THINGS:
Driver sun visor hangs down about an inch farther than it should
Glove box flops down (fixing today)
Engine cover MIA
Several (many?) plastic trim connectors missing in engine bay. I have some extras laying around.
Everything else seems to be either Great Nick or Not Noticed Any Bad.
He bought it from a very reputable dealer who specializes in high-end cars. I sat in a Sold Vantage for awhile, many Porsches, Mercs, Bimmers, "Audis" (huh, thought I said 'high-end. Oh well) Lots of Ford trucks (course they are going for close to 90k now). This XKR was the lowest priced car in their For Sale inventory.
Car looks great and sounds like a solid car. I guess he's a chip off the old block. Congratulations to him. And now when you go to visit him, you'll have something familiar to drive.
Congrats to Cee Jay's son. (He'd better be joining the forum)
Btw, did he colour coordinate himself to match the car, LOL!
The taurus wing was never on the 07 xkr.
If I were going to change the engine, that would be the one.
Adaptive headlights are great. But I do "service" them by keeping the battery (LOL!) in top shape and annual tear apart, cleaning, lubricating.
The center piping had 2 resonators. I removed one of mine. With the high flow cats, that's loud enough.
+1 Tires and brakes and bushings!!
+1 all engine external components!!
I go through bouts of removing the engine cover, then putting it back on. I still can't make up my mind.
I have removed the antennae fuse as I listen to Sirius and CDs, mostly.
Congrats and he should come up to Vancouver, BC for May 21st, 2022 for the annual All British meet as it will be a fun day since he lives just next door!

Do you know the back-story on the engine replacement? What the cause was?
No idea on why, never thought to ask. Just the total invoice and itemization for everything they did. It was done at a European specialty shop, so I am/he is confident in the work.
Now that’s good value. An aluminum car with a 4.2 supercharged engine, properly serviced for < 20K. Most of the prices I see these days have me laughing at the buyers… for falling for it. Well done.
