My wood is gone..

The place is called Auto Upholstery Unlimited off Hillsborough Ave. He seemed to know his stuff and felt comfortable doing the visors. It seems most places were scared to touch the visors.
I saw your post on ebay. Looks to be a good price for all of that stuff. Since I have the suede ordered, I will give it a shot with this guy and post some pics.
What year of car did your headliner come out of? Are you grab handles cream leather?

That looks sharp! I think your right.. the wood looks really good on the camel leather cars. The piano black center would be a easy upgrade for the older cars with that color. Really updates the car.
That does look really good, a nice change as the wood grain to me looks a bit old fashioned and dated.
I am not a big wood fan by any means, but on my 2012 I think the wood grain is well executed and matches the interior splendidly. The fact that this year already has the piano black gloss middle helps to mute the overall affect as I am not loaded with a heavy wood presence.
Question - will not sway me from preferring my interior as-is so you can be as honest as you wish - if your interior had this combination would you change it to the metal look?

Some cars look right with wood and others just don't. The XK could get away with either if the other colours were sympathetically chosen. Whoever originally speced my white car came up with a modern combination that certainly works for me. I like light interiors, but the darker dash and aluminium works. Not a great photo though, sorry:

Just my opinion, I feel the aluminum goes better with a charcoal, grey or black interior. The wood compliments the beige, tan and caramel interiors. Like I said, just my opinion. Couldn't imagine an aluminum trim with my caramel interior....

Sorry, I can't get excited about aluminum with these cars. It doesn't impart the richness that comes from wood.
I just feel that good wood has always been a traditional part of a high quality English car. I prefer burl walnut. Both the Bentley and the Jag have such and I would have kept looking if they did not. Just my taste.

They do pop up on eBay from time to time, so you have to be patient. I've seen caramel, black, and grey (or maybe it was blue), show up in the past year or so.

Find a craftsman near you for a custom wheel. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be difficult at all to make up a wonderfully crafted wheel for not a whole lot of coin.
