Name and difficulty of replacing this thing

Upper control arm (upper wishbone) ball joint gaiter. It looks like the ball joint is integral with the control arm so, if the joint itself is worn, you will need to replace the arm. Probably not too difficult if you have a decent heavy duty ball joint splitter.
If the ball joint itself is OK you could just replace the gaiter. You need to buy a replacement of the correct size if you buy a circular one and will need to split the joint but you can buy split gaiters which fit around the joint and are glued in place. I've used the split type many times and they are very quick and easy to fit but wear gloves to avoid getting your fingers stuck together with superglue.

Strut will need to either come out of dropped on order to have clearance for the bolt going through the upper control arm (I've done both ways but honestly alot more room to simply remove strut) the nut is a 16mm use ring spanner to hold.
On a positive at least its not the rear upper control arn as brake hose needs to come off !
