NAPA post on 7 driving rules
Just read the post by NAPA on 7 driving rules most people miss or don't practice. There are 2 that gets me and have given me close calls. Sometimes I wonder the mentality of the drivers or are they just ignorant. The one that gets me the most is coasting through a stop sign. Why would someone roll through a stop sign and stop for a stop light. Next is the right on red move. I guess people or to lazy to stop before turning or just don't know the law. OK I'm done so on with the day.

I didn't read the post that jagtoes referenced and wondered if it included my #1 rule of the road:
If you're the first car stopped at a red traffic light, after that light turns green ALWAYS look left and right before proceeding to make sure that you're not about to get T-boned. I learned to do this the hard way; fortunately she missed me by inches.
I can't believe how many suburban Atlanta drivers run red lights, particularly soccer moms in a big hurry to pick up their kids at school. One reason this happens so often is lack of law enforcement. Many drivers go more than 15 mph over the limit and when approaching an intersection and the light turns yellow some drivers will floor it to try to beat the red light. I see this happen almost every day.
You have no control over other drivers, but you can save your own life in less than 10 seconds. Always look both ways before you pull out.
Don't become a statistic.

I just read it. Interesting that Tailgating isn't #8. In my younger years, cops used to ticket regularly for this offense. I think they handed out "careless driving" tickets her in MN.
Now, it's hard to be on the road without being tailgated. I tend to move with the speed of traffic, stay in in right lane and there's just no avoiding it. "Wikihow" has an article on how to handle tailgaters.
