Default Nav Disc??

Hi All,

What is the most up to date MAP CD for the X150's system? Where is the cheapest place to pick one up?

Thanks,

2012-2013 or 2014 discs are the latest as far as I know. Watch for a set to come up on Ebay, but be careful there are counterfeits out there. I use Google maps on my Galaxy 6 Edge. I have a magnetic mount that slips in the CD feeder slot in the dash and the app is constantly updated as to traffic on my routes which are loaded in orally. I can't remember the last time I used the built in GPS.

Have a look for a newer Volvo disc, to suit these models:

In Australia the newest disc for the XK (and XF, and the LR2, LR3 and Range Rover Sport up to 2009MY) is from 2013, but those Volvo models use the same system, and the discs are 100% compatible.

I've got a 2017 Volvo version in my XKR, works perfectly.

Note that the map version date is one year behind the market release, V 05.16.02 is 2016, but it's sold as a 2017 update.

Thanks for the suggestion Cambo. I'm seeing a couple of HDD disks for Volvo MY 07 and up depending on model. My guess is that my '07 would balk at trying to read anything other a standard DVD, but would like your opinion.

You need the DVD, not the USB/HDD version.

Those Volvo models listed; S80 from 2007-2011, V70 from 2008-2011, XC60 form 2009-2010 & XC70 from 2008-2011, use DVD's the same as our XK's.

Some Volvo's have an internal HDD which stores the maps, those are a different system, not compatible with the XK.

So basically this guy or a newer version for me? Already noted that it doesn't have all the states.

No, that's not it, check the vehicle compatibility in the description. The VNS is for earlier models.

Thanks,
Maybe do what some members have done (including me), buy both disks legitimately and sell the disk that you don't want to someone on the other side of the country.

Better to pay $175 for the latest 2016/2017 version from Volvo, than $200 for the Jaguar one that's three or four years out of date!

That Volvo deal sounds intriguing, but how would the Software Update included integrate with the Jag stuff?

The software update was installed in mine, and there's nothing "Volvo" about it. It just works. Could be a placebo effect but it seems to work a bit faster than before.

The DVD drive is the brains of the Navigation, I guess there were some improvements made by Denso (the maker of the Nav unit) to the software that runs the drive, this is completely separate to the touchscreen with the Jaguar logos, menus, etc.

Was out this afternoon and used the nav, it's definitely faster now to move through the menus and select a destination, and the graphics on the map have changed too, more detail shown and looks sharper.

Default Update

I took Cambo's suggestion and bought the "Volvo" disks with 2016 maps. Got it at a pretty good price.
Agree that it is faster.
One thing of note. I only wanted the "B" disk for the Eastern US, so just jumped right in with that disk. Got "loading map data" for a really long time, so went back and inserted disk A. Got the software message, when that finished I reinserted the B Disk and everything is fine. So apparently Volvo only put the software update on Disk A. Warning to all.

NOW. I have my B disk installed so if anyone is interested in the A disk, PM me and we can work out price and delivery.

Thanks for the info, waiting for mine to arrive.
