Navigation is discharging the battery
Hi
I have a problem with navigating - I found it draining my battery. All the time as if he was working / humming. In addition, the navigation does not want to return the disc, does not respond to the eject button - the disc is inside. For now I have disconnected this dvd reader but the radio / cd control is also gone and the display is not working.
Do you have anything to say / suggestions on this topic?
What is this plugin from the third photo for? It wasn't connected anywhere.

A couple things. First, the wires in the 3rd pic are used in transport from manufacturer to dealerships so you can ignore it.
I see in your pic you have the disc drive in the locked position. You don't mention it, but please confirm you're trying to eject with the switch in the unlocked position
To gain control of your touchscreen again (without the nav), use a bypass fiber optic loop as seen below:
Disconnect the orange fiber optic cable from the back of the DVD drive and plug the cable into the loop.

Thanks Sean W for info on loose cable.
Of course, I tried to remove the disc with the open position.
The use of the proposed bypass itself will probably not help, because the device stops humming / consuming electricity only after disconnecting the power supply. What do you think?

You might also try ejecting after bypassing the unit with a bypass loop. With the fiber optic line disconnected, I suspect the disc will then eject as nothing is trying to communicate with it.
The Nav disc should not spin when the car is off. That would be a drain on the battery. When the car is in convenience mode or running, so is the Navigation disc and would only drain your battery if you were in convenience mode and not running the engine.

yes the unit begins to operate as soon as the car enters convenience mode until ignition is turned off. The disc spins non stop during this time. The bypass will work fine as I noted and you would, of course, leave the unit unplugged. You will then get back all other functions except your navigation.

Pink is an antenna connection. Prolly GPS if it was even connected but may be used on another model vehicle. The Blue connector is called GVIF connector (Gigabite Video Interface). It connects the Nav unit to the back of the touchscreen and sends the map images to the head unit. Not needed either if you don't need the Nav. Buy the bypass and connect it, leave the unit unplugged or removed as you've done and you should be fine.

New here to the Forum. Was going to post asking about a 'low electrical humming noise' I hear when entering the car. Could this be the Nav waking up? Just picked up the car yesterday ('08 KXR)

It may be the aspirator, a little sensor behind the dash used for climate control. Look at the dash for some slots or a little vent, maybe one inch square. 25mm square???

Thanks Cee Jay!! So, is the aspirator a normal thing? I don't want to go digging around if all is as it should be...
As far as 'climate control', I've also noted that the external thermometer reading is WAAaaaaayyy off. Is that a dealer reset?

A person can clean the aspirator by using a light blast of canned air. OR, take it out from the rear and clean it gently. When they get dusty they tend to whine a bit. It's a little fan thing on a sensor, so don't break it.
