Need suggestions on a code reader

Even though I have an extended warranty on my XKR, I am a hopeless and avid DIY'er and want to trouble-shoot the check-engine light that came on this weekend. I have the Launch 90 scanner which shows real-time data but it only shows me the 4 digit code (P0101) and not the extended code (P0101xx).
Is there a scanner out there that would help me diagnose my issue? I see the but the reviews lead me to think it's sketchy.

I have the same issue. Been trying to solve it forever. Can you read intake and coolant temps? On a cold start they should be the same. My intake temps are much higher than normal, thus the P0101. Replacing MAFs twice didn't help.
As for the scanner, i'm sure other people can chime in. I just use ELM but it doesn't give extended codes either.

Thanks guys. I like the Mongoose one but it doesn't look like that's among their current offerings. I sent them an email - let's see what they come back with.
Gkubrak - I remember my IAT being higher than I thought it should be and not moving. It was 127 on a 50 degree day. I am tempted to just through on a new pair of MAF sensors but your story has made me pause that plan.![Smile](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Since there is also a MAPT sensor in the intercooler, I am starting to think that is the 'intake temp' thats being displayed. Waiting on a USB temp sensor to come in so I can actually measure temps.

Thanks guys. I think the part I'm missing is the software. Do the dongles come with the software needed to scan the modules?
Also, I'm more than a little concerned about buying a cheap knock-off. If someone who recently purchased one could PM me a link for the one you bought - that would be most appreciated.

The Mongoose cable and that DA Dongle are for use with JLR SDD, or Jaguar Land Rover Symptom Driven Diagnostics software. It's a HUGE program and needs a dedicated laptop to run properly, and it's either pricey to buy or sometimes tricky to pirate.
If you just want a CODE reader, get a Bluetooth dongle and run the Torque App on a phone or tablet. My dongle with Torque Pro cost like $8, but that was a few years ago.
Dozens of these on Amazon and other places.

Mine is customized (enhanced functionality) for my 07 and I purchased it with the stipulation that I don't share so I'll honor that, otherwise I'd be happy to help. I've also done some retro fitting so my files are further different than stock. I'm sure there are guys on this forum that have a legit standard copy they could share. Otherwise go to Forums>General>Tech section and there are threads out there on SDD. You could ask someone for an OEM copy.

Thanks for all the help and advice on the SDD. I'm not sure which direction I am going to go yet, but....
my local independent Euro car shop was able to diagnose and fix the P0101 issue. I bought this car in March and replaced the filters around then. At that time I wasn't aware you were only supposed to use Jaguar air filters so I bought the $20 Mahle filters. The shop said the filters weren't flowing the same which confused the computer throwing the MAF implausiblity code. He replaced the filters with genuine Jaguar filters and all is good with the car again. Penny-wise, pound-foolish I guess, but we're all here to live and learn.
