Never say never , I guess
I came to this form in late 2013 looking for some information and guidance in finding and buying a X150. After looking at the pros and cons of various years and options I set my goal on a 2012-2013 XKR convertible in either Green , Red or Blue. After about a 6 month search I purchased a low mileage (6,666) car in IRR. Both my bride and I were happy to get our cruiser car and thought it to be my last fun car considering my age. It's been a great 20,000 mile drive over the past 5 1/2 months . I never expected to sell it but after my bride passed a few months back it just didn't look the same or mean the same to me anymore. That being said I decided to list it on CarGuru for $35K while also placing an order reservation for a new C8 . This was in early November and within 3 weeks I had several offers which I didn't expect so soon. I closed the deal 2 weeks ago for $34K and had transferred both title and funds last week. The car is in my garage waiting for the transporter . Note we had a PPI done at my dealer in Albany. So with that I will continue to participate as much as I can on this form but as I get closer to my new life toy (project May ) I'll be refocusing on the Mid-engine C8 form. Thanks for all of the support of this group and please continue to provide it as new members join and leave. By the way from a depreciation aspect I paid $75K in April 2014 for this car . Good luck and great driving. Life is short .

As an FYI my Build sheet order for the C8 is $84,400. I was more surprised on how quickly it sold and especially since it's a convert. By the way it's going to CA.

I remember your search for the XKR like it was yesterday. Yes, life is short and it is good to see you're enjoying it. I've gone through 3 XKR's. An almost new 2011 XKR 175, a new 2013 XKR, and my current 2014 XKR convertible. It took me a long time to find my current XKR with the specs I desired. I'm keeping it for at least 12 months, lol. More like 5-6 years minimum. I, also, plan on picking up a C8 Z06 convertible when they come out in about 2 years if they prove to be a good car. I rented a convertible camaro in Los Angeles once and could not wait to return it. The C8 is a completely new car from the ground up. I hope it is also a good quality car. I may see you on the C8 forum. When you take delivery of your C8 be sure to come back and show it off and give us a review.

Wow, quick turn on that sale! I tend to keep cars a bit longer whereas a lot of friends buy every 3 or 4 years a new vehicle. I never worry about what I pay or sell it for, but I do like to track my cost of ownership in monthly terms. Your $41k in depreciation is $611 per month if amortized over 67 months. People pay that for a Maxima!

There is what is called a "museum delivery" which give you a build plaque and receiving the car at the Kentucky museum. I was considering it but didn't want to fly down and drive home. As it is I am buying the car from a NH dealer so I'll have a good 3 hr. drive getting it home. Oh the option is an extra $1000 . I'll post pics when I get it but at this point it looks like maybe May or June.

There have been a lot of rumors flying around in the last few weeks so it's hard to tell what the real info is. The factory is supposed to start production in February. Deliveries will start at the end of that month with coupe's coming out 1st. The 2020 production run will be around 40,000 cars both coupe and convert. The converts will start coming out in April . My order is with MacMulkin Corvette center which is the 2nd largest dealer in the world. From what I heard there are 37,000 order reservations on GM's books . These all have $$$$$ deposits but will change when the reservations turn to hard orders. So time will tell but if you don't have a reservation it may be to late for 2020. I also heard that the production assembly rate will be somewhere around 1 car every 4-6 hours. I'll just have to wait and see but I won't need the car until around April-June.

What colors and options are you getting on the Vette?
I am quite excited to see how the new tires developed on the Vette work out. They are supposed to be like summer tires, but offer an extended temperature range so they are almost all season tires. I can give up a little performance if it offer me an extra month or two before switching to winter's or not mounting winter wheels at all.
