The same way most turbos are made to make more power...

1. Higher engine volumetric efficiency from reduced back pressure by removing catalytic converter and other exhaust restrictions. The engine will now ingest more airflow at any given boost pressure allowing it to make more power.
2. ECU tune to advance timing and lean out the air/fuel ratio...both making more power from the air/fuel mixture.
3. Specify and tune for higher octane fuel to tune even more aggressively in #2.
4. Increase boost pressure to effectively ingest more air with much the same effect as increasing engine displacement.

They may also...
5. Improve intercooler efficiency to increase air density in the air/fuel mixture
6. Remove transmission control unit limitters intended to extend tranny life.

And they usually...
7. Void the manufacturer's warranty because 1-6 all increase wear on the drivetrain.

A recent published comparo saw the GT-R's stock engine power decrease when the engine management started reducing it because it was a hot day and they were running 91 octane! Had they used 93-94 or race fuel it would have probably been fine. That engine is already being pushed by the factory, and if you expect it to perform at much higher levels you have to have a very comprehensive plan and not just try to half-a$$ it.

I believe I read that the new XK will loose the oval grille. (From Callum) They want to continue the new direction of the other models.
My question is why do all the models have to have the same grille??? When the D type (first ancestor to our xk's) came out it sported a completely different front opening an any other model at the time.

Maybe Jaguar is trying to gain market recognition across all models and maintain the momentum of shaking off a less than perfect past. I would love to see Jaguar come out with one more iteration of the XK with a new front similar to the X-C75 front in my signature. I thought they were going to do it before stopping the current model and maybe add an ZF 8 speed.
