New battery in the key fob, but still get the message

Take the Smartkey out of your pocket, put it on the dashboard near the speedometer and try to start the car. You might get lucky (but I doubt it). If that doesn't work, watch this video.
Although it's a Land Rover, it shows what the technician went through to pinpoint why "Key Not Found" and it wouldn't start.

For over a month, I could not get my keyfob to lock the doors on my F-Type. I could eventually start the car, but only if I held the fob next to the dash. Changed the battery, no improvement. Finally, I took it in to the dealer. The Service techs took about 5 minutes to diagnose the issue. They popped the hood and slammed it shut. Problem solved. Apparently, if the hood is not in a fully locked state, the key fob functionality is impaired. Go figure.

Dude opened and closed the boot.
Problem solved!
They changed the remote battery and even washed my car.
Total price???
ZERO!
I LOVE that dealership. I've never owned a Land Rover.
