Ha, not much for being PC, I know that doesn't fly in our new world. But we are just amongst Jag family here, eh?
There was a guy when I was in college, dude was huge, only 5' 8" but was 255 of solid muscle compliments of steroid use. Wasn't just show muscle, 450lb bench, 500 squat. When we saw this guy in the college bars we gave him berth as you would always see a full out brawl around him, one time it took 4 cops to corral him while he was beating some guy down. By the way, fast forward 5 years after graduating and we started running in the same circles, became good friends in a group that chased the ladies, eventually in each others weddings.
So this young country fella with 'roids in the veins and violence in his heart drove a Purple Geo Tracker in college. Now, you tell me, is that car girly or manly? If you even have a moment of thought as girly, well you my friend are also stereotyping!!! If not then you are better than me. Later me and the fella's always razz him about that college choice, his comment, "the girls loved it". There was no shame in his game to get the ladies.
Do I allow stereotypes to affect my thinking, sometimes. Every time I think about getting a Corvette all I can think is that I would be a rolling cliché, at 52 it screams midlife issues. I will have to ripen in age a bit more!
tampamark, it's all good. We all generalize and classify, another way of saying we use stereotypes. And it's true that there are women who like small cute cars, as well as men such as your friend. But even if it were true that all Miatas were driven by women, it would not be true that all women drive Miatas.
What was needed was how the launch control works. Best time recorded by a corvette form member was 0-60 at 2.7 seconds and a 1/4 mile in the high 10 second range. Also as I mentioned the right hand drive version has been built. Good review.
Well I picked up my car 2 days ago and drove it 270 miles home from the dealer. So far it seems that all of the reviews are spot on. This is my 3 Corvette and as I mentioned it was something I thought I would never do. I was impressed with the style and now I am impressed with the car. I realize the huge advancements since my 2012 XKR but this is in a whole new world. It somewhat reminds me of my old 308 GTB with an extra 250HP. It has multiple driving modes which alter various engine and suspension settings and they all feel different. It has all of the features we have complained about our XK's. It is a different breed but just as luxurious as my 2012 XKR Convertible. I bought the hard top conv (HTC) with the Z51 performance package. It has a lot of cool features and I am presently reviewing and setting them up. Driving back on the interstate in touring mode it is more comfortable then the Jag in normal mode. When I switched to Sport mode the ride was more like the normal Jag. ride. I must admit I miss the back seat but with me just being the only one in the car most of the time I put stuff in the passenger seat. So I won't bore you guys as there are loads of youtube reviews if you want all of the details. I paid $85K for it and it took 13 months to get. I will most likely get some new car growing pains but I'll live with it like when I bought my new 1963 Convertible. So enjoy the ride and all I can say is WOW
A car is transportation.
A GOOD car is transportation that you love to drive.
A GREAT car is one you drive, not for transportation but for the feelings it gives you.
If it makes you smile, makes you happy, then it's a great car.
Have fun!
Looks great! Congratulations! Enjoy! I'm leaning towards putting a few deposits on a C8 ZO6 HTC. The first dealer that calls me looking for a build contract will get the order. I'm looking at 2022.
Jagtoes,
Congratulations on getting your car. I'm sure you're going to enjoy it, especially the "teenager" hiding inside of you. It's beautiful, it's a change for you, and I hope it fulfills your expectations.
May you enjoy it for years to come.
@jagtoes Looks great. Does the hard to stow in the car when off? Any interior pics?
It is the hard top convertible (the top does not come off)
and not the targa top. It folds down and stores over the engine. The coupes have a targa top that stores in the trunk. I don't have good pictures of the interior yet but will post them when I take them.
It will be a while before prices drop but once they do it will be my next car..
Ferrari looks and performance for 1/3 the price,, how can you argue with that..

Personally, I love the look of the C8. All of it. I haven't driven one yet but I've seen about 4 or 5 up close for inspection. The first one was in June at a gas stop on a bike trip. The cat was giddy and eager to show it all off for me and we chatted for about 15 minutes. If it holds up, it'll be on my short list in about 3 years. Until then. lol.
Just a few on the seats. Also as an observation the XKR I had was a little quieter in the cabin the the hardtop. Not wind noise but more of a road noise. Now I have summer comp tires which may be the cause but I will replace them with all season tires this week.
I was at my Chevrolet dealer the other day to buy a new truck. They had a C8 getting prepped for a customer pickup in the service department. The salesman let me go in to to view the C8. Even from a distance I could tell the build was inferior and screamed GM. Up close I further checked the quality and fitment. Immediately I noticed the the plastic trim on the door between the window and door looked cheap. I pushed gently on the door panel and the trim piece moved independently away from the door, like it was an after thought not a part of the door and of rigid like plastic and not made of quality resins (or rubbery like). Before getting in line for a 2022 Z06 can anyone else comment on the drive and build quality. Do you get the low American Car build quality feeling or a more refined feeling?
The truck I bought is a monster, Silverado 2500HD, and is work related. It's loaded with steel and plastic, it will move a mountain. I like to have my personal car much more refined and of much higher quality.
