New Guy
I'm new to the site and the last Jaguar I owned was a 64 XKE and that was 40 years ago!
I'm currently driving a C6 Corvette but I like the looks and performance of the XKR. My local dealer has a 2010 convertible that I'm going to take a look at.
Are there things specific to the XKR that I should pay special attention to? The car is certified and has 36K miles, the dealer is very reliable.
Thanks

Welcome!!! I just purchased my '10 XKR and already own a '05 STR. They are great cars. Speaking specifically about the XKR, the one word summation I would use is ,"WOW, AWESOME, INCREDIBLE!!!" Well, 3 words. I don't have any caveats to share yet, knock on wood, but I'm sure you will enjoy the XKR should you decide to buy it. The select certified edition is the way to go IMHO, giving you the peace of mind of a factory extended warranty. Well, that's all I have to offer at the moment. I'm still thoroughly enjoying mines!

I drove the XKR and an XK coupe. The xkr was very fast, as fast as the Vette and mine has the 436 HP dual mode exhaust. The Vette handles like a sports car, well planted yet tossable. The xkr handles like a GT, bigger but still with very accurate and direct steering. Braking felt about the same. Throttle tip in the xkr gave an immediate response. After driving the xkr the xk felt a bit tame.
The car had been smoked in quite a bit so I didn't pursue it. They tried to hide it with air fresheners but the smell was still there.
I was a little disappointed with the quality of some interior materials. Better than the Vette overall, but still some disappointments. I guess $100k doesn't go as far as it used to. My wife just got rid of an 03 500 SL which is not the performer the xkr is, more like the xk, but excellent quality of materials.
The dealer didn't want my vette on trade, offered $12k less than kbb, nada, and Edmunds so I'll hold off until spring when vettes bring more.
