Welcome either way!
As someone who's owned an X100 XKR for a decade and an X150 XKR for 2 years; they're very different cars and the X100 or X150 forum will absolutely be fantastic in learning about and helping you maintain your car, which ever you have! Just the right forum will get you the right info as they are very different beasts.

in what respects ARE they different beasts?
The XK8 is more like the (XK) E type.
early 4.0 ... ok.
Made from Steel vs made from Aluminium.
The instrument board might be more classic in the XK8s.
In Convertibles the XKs are MUCH superior IMO.
What else?
Let´s go!

Your Public Profile shows that you have a 2002 XK8, which is an X100 model. They were built from 1996 - 2006.

This is the X150 Forum, for aluminum models from 2007 - 2015.
You should be in the X100 Forum, which is here:

Enjoy your new ride!

P.S. I don't get it. The last several posts are about new members who inadvertently posted in the wrong Forum. Is it contagious? See my Post #20, above. Is there a cure?

Well there are some similarities so it's an easy mistake to make. Both have 4 wheels, same logo, windshields, etc. Seriously, how many parts migrated from X100> X150? It was a clean sheet redesign. The 4.2/6 from the 03-06 made the move. Both NA/SC engines had tech changes to generate more hp.
