New to Jag
I am about to be the proud owner of 2007 Jaguar XKR convertible currently being evaluated for defects before I purchase. Wanted to see if you Jaguar owner/experts think I’m getting a fair deal. Or if have any suggestions for a first-time Jag owner.
It has only 15,000 miles, carfax certified. Pristine condition. Dealer putting on new rotors and brakes today.
Cost with tax/license $38,362.
Thank you for your input

That's a crap-ton of money for a 2007. Are Low Miles super important to you? Are you going to drive this car a lot or a little? If you plan on daily driving, low mileage may help extend life for a minute, but if you don't plan on adding 100,000 miles yourself, why pay a huge premium for low mileage?
Also, 15k miles is a tiny bit, You will probably be dealing more with rot and decay than mileage-based degradation on parts. Cars last longer when they are driven and not parked.
Edit: You could probably find a wonderful example with a few more miles and five years newer for less money. That also depends on what you want from an XK... would you be happy with the 4.2 liter, or would the 5.0 be more in line with your wish list? The outside of the 2012 models is quite a bit more 'modern' in appearance than the 2007s, and also sleeker than the 2010-11 models. The interiors of the 2010+ models is also upgraded to a smoother, classier motif with a bit more shiny stuff and fewer J-gate shifters. I didn't think I'd like the rotary shifter in my 2010, but now I think an old-timey contraption stuck in the center of my car would be archaic and out of place.

Doesn't sound like a good deal even considering the mileage. I haven't been watching the used X150 market but this seems to high. I sold an excellent 2012 XKR convertible wit 24,000 miles in Dec. of 2019 for $30,000. I would think a 2007 price range would be around $15,000. Just my thoughts.

First, welcome! (And you've already got your first smackdown so you've been hazed in-- impressive!)
The price is high. Not your fault; the issue right now is used cars in general are overpriced. (Conversely, it's an awesome time to SELL an XK.)
Tell them you're going to hold off a bit. If you're smitten with the make/model in general, use the time to go drive a few others... and post your results!

I'll add to the folks saying that's a ridiculously high price for that car. I bought the same 2007 XKR convertible late last year with 9900 miles, for WAY less money. You need to RUN away from that one.
on edit- And I thought what I paid was high, even considering it only had 9900 miles.

Tough crowd.
Used Jaguar prices in the US are terrifying compared with here in the UK. If it is, as universally suggested in these replies, way above US values for a 2007 XK Convertible then provenance has to be taken into account and must be impeccable. Extraordinarily low miles and "pristine condition" probably means a one owner, pampered vehicle and "currently being evaluated for defects before I purchase" should mean a dealer who will swallow the cost of any other defects occuring in a reasonable time after purchase. I would also want a fat file of supporting bills starting with the original bill of sale and ending with the fourteenth annual service.
If it is one of the best, I tend towards the Sir Henry Royce view - "The quality remains long after the price is forgotten."

.....2010 Jaguar XKR convertible
60,000 miles, CPO. Pristine condition. All services listed
Cost without tax and license (out of state purchase) $35,000
SUMMARY: Ten year older car, same specs, adjusted for inflation = same price I paid. Fewer miles though, so that's a positive.

It's definitely a seller's market at the moment, with prices for used cars reported as up 30% in some cases from just one year ago. If you are trading something in to fund the purchase, there should be an associated upside to offset the cost which might improve things. OP said that the cost included tax, so the pre-tax price may could be ~$35K. Looks steep, but there aren't too may on the market for direct comparison. Low mileage cars demand a premium, even if the benefits are only perceived.
Prices will undoubtedly come back to more reasonable levels, so patience will offer some better deals but car purchases aren't always made with the head and a new convertible XKR sure sounds like a fun way to spend a Summer.....

The OP jaggette was on the forum yesterday and must have seen many of the replies. As I wrote in post #9 - tough crowd. The forum is not the place for anyone who doesn't want honest opinions but I hope it has not put jaggette off participating.
He/she is now the owner of one of the best models Jaguar has produced and discussion needs to address the second point of the question - suggestions for a first-time Jag owner.
My 2007 XK was the most reliable Jaguar I've owned and there's been a lot in over fifty years. It's reasonable to say the majority of owners have found the XK 4.2 is more reliable than the later 5.0.
jaggette's should have no faults but I would:
1. get every scrap of paperwork from the PO and dealer - provenance is very important with a used Jaguar
2. sit down with the Owner's Handbook and go through every switch and setting to check all work correctly
3. tyres - 15K miles is very low but rubber deteriorates with age. They should have been replaced within the last five years
4. battery - should be no more than five years old
5. get a CTEK - most new owners are unaware of how sensitive these vehicles are to battery charge and condition
6. go for a long drive and see if any squeaks or rattles develop particularly in dampers or suspension bushes
7. not be afraid to ask questions
8. enjoy it

Welcome!
While recent used car supply is low and more demand and higher prices for used cars, I would have to agree with most here that the car is a bit over priced. The low mileage helps and certainly condition is everything. Convertible and R version of this car are also pluses and can command more value. Who knows, we maybe seeing the cyclical uptick in European cars. For comparison I bought my 2008 XKR convertible with 29K miles a few yeas ago for mid-twenties. An exact 2007 version of it with 72k miles was sold at Barrett Jackson for 26.5K before fees. Like anything else, a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
It seems you already know the appeal of this Jaguar. I can attest that, even with some maintenance/repair challenges and nuances, it is a fine grand tourer. A great balance between luxury and performance. You will not be disappointed owning and driving one.
